The vehicle is a 2022 Ford Maverick Ecoboost, manufacture date 4/22 with just over 23K on the odometer.
A few days ago, I noticed that I had some water in my passenger side footwell. I had just washed the truck, so I was worried that I had somehow sprayed water into the ac intake and that's where it was coming from. I pulled the cabin air filter, and other than a couple pieces of leaves, it looked fine. No water, not even damp. I gently sprayed some water along the windshield cowl again today, and didn't see anything leaking when I was looking up from inside the dash.

The past couple days, I've been seeing a drip coming from what appears to be a seam on what I'm guessing is the evaporator housing. I've included pictures to try and show what I'm talking about. I can also hear a "sloshing" sound coming from the passenger side when I make left turns. I don't see any water actually coming from the vents. I know that people have had issues with the windshield cowl, but mine appears to be fastened all the way across the windshield. Is it possible the piece under the cowl is the problem? Or is it possible I'm looking at a clogged evap drain? And the last possibility, could I have oversprayed water into the intake for the ac?

When dripping, the water seems to be coming from the seam visible in this picture. View from passenger side

Shot from driver side. Water seems to run into this guard then drip out.

I've also included a short video of the drip taken from the passenger's side.

I have an appointment scheduled, but figured I would get some input in case it's something I could take care of myself, or at the very least I'll have more info to share with the technician.

Also possible that a drain is clogged; not too hard to investigate.

Am I understanding correctly that it’s located under a couple of heat shields on the bottom of the vehicle? I wasn’t able to find it inside.

Yes. Per the Reddit post; Splashield remove, then loosen Left & Right felt splash shields. then center heat shield.

Well, when I checked the drain it was definitely clogged. Quite a bit of water came rushing out of it. I didn't really need anything to unclog the drain. I literally just touched it. Still, I slid a zip tie up there and spun it around in case there was something else trapped in there.

I ran the ac for a bit, and could definitely see the water dripping outside of the truck, but I still see an occasional drip from the same spots inside. It's nowhere near as bad as it was, but now I'm wondering if there's something going on with the drain line further up. Or maybe the rest of the water that was in places it wasn't supposed to be is just slowly working its way out.

Thankfully the whole carpet wasn't wet. So, I was able to fold it back and jam a small fan in there to help dry it out. I grabbed some mold treatment so I can get a jump on it before I have any more issues.

With water sitting in the housing from clogged drain, made me think of another post:

I did see that one. Interestingly enough, I wasn’t getting any musty smell from the AC. Even the water that drained out didn’t smell, so I’m guessing the clog was fairly recent.

Think I have the same issue. Any pics of where this is located? I plan on cutting off that duckbill and having it wide open to prevent clogs.
Edit: I see the pics now

The “duckbill” is designed to keep stuff out, but we’ve seen some cases of keeping water “in”. I won’t do anything with it unless I have a problem, then I would think about “alternatives” rather than simply cutting it off. Search MTC for other reports of this issue.
