Has anyone dealt with this black mold issue of leaking at bottom of windshield into the cabin area?
We recently experienced this issue with our 2022 Maverick. The smell was so horrible that it was making me sick to ride in it. Burning in throat and nose and eyes.
This was black mold in the firewall that covered the insulation and in the cabin area under the carpet and under side of the seats.
After seven months dealing with Ford Corporate and requesting a full replacement for our 2022 Ford Maverick, they eventually replaced our 2022 Maverick with a brand new 2024 Maverick. Ford Corporate is not friendly or easy to communicate with their quality issues and making things right to the consumers. Stand on the principles for what is right.
But at this point, We won !!!

Wow! Not suggesting anyone intentionally cause a leak and promote mold growth to get a new Mavierick.................but...........:unsure:;);) NO, do not do it!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for you problem; good you stuck with your efforts to get it corrected. Wonder who will get the old one after it is "demolded"????

Not suggesting that at all. But as a previous robot programmer, it is required to conduct quality checks per every ten parts for specs. Well, apparently this was not being done. It the program gets off by as little as a mm, this will cause a leak.
The older Maverick is now sitting at corporate lot and it smells worse and all the computer parts are fried from the mold. The rollback driver gagged as he tried to hook the Maverick to the hoist on rollback. They tried to jump start the truck, the truck was dead.

That's insane!! Glad Ford made it right in the end even if you had to fight them on it.

Totally insane and it was challenging. I was not giving in to their incompetence and poor quality. We love the Maverick. But they needed to do the right thing, stand behind their products.
A lot more should stand up to corporate. And we didn't have an attorney.

I've noticed when it freezes overnight and has been raining the previous day, I get a couple of drops of water running inside the windshield after startup and running defrost. I brought it in for warranty concern and they ran a water leak test and couldn't replicate it so no solution. But it's very minor so i just wipe it down when it happens, only a few days a year here anyway.

I had made over 20 calls over a period of 3 months to their 1-800 number when the local dealer botched my airbag recall by leaving parts off. I had pictures and diagrams from their official service manual to prove it.That could have killed me or my passengers. They just don't care.

The issue in your case may have been the air inlet plastic duct under the windshield cowling. Either way, sounds like it's no longer your problem.

Keep an eye on the leak. There can be damage behind the firewall in the insulation and could possibly turn into black mold. Our local dealership replaced the dash as a tech scratched it completing some recall work. The smell was exposed at that time and got worse over time. The moisture killed the computer wiring completely.

Keep pushing Ford Corporate about this issue. Completely bypass the dealership.
Our local dealership did keep us in a loaner throughout this entire process of seven months until corporate completely replaced our Maverick, at their expense. We didn't pay a cent for the loaner vehicle the entire time.

If it only happens with rain the previous day and then low temps overnight I'm wondering if this could be condensation forming on the inside of the glass from humidity in the cab and not an actual leak. Worth keeping an eye on either way.

DAMN! Glad your situation was resolved, but I'm curious had your windshield ever been replaced, or was it original?

The windshield was the original from production line. This issue is in most 2022-2023 Mavericks and Bronco Sports. This is a production quality failure.
