I think my dealership has been trying as much as they can. They have had similar issues about even getting information about my 2023 order. The answer from my dealership was we can figure out appropriate pricing once you 2024 order shows up.
Well, it sounds like the dealer may cut you some slack on the price. Then again, we could be spitting in the wind, but here is my reasoning. Fifty years ago, I bought a set of Dunlop tires for my Datsun 1600 sports car from NTW, with the usual 40K-mile guarantee. The tires were CRAP, and disintegrated in less than 10K miles. I took the tires back to NTW, who said that Dunlop would NOT make good on their warranty, but NTW WOULD SUPPORT THE GUARANTEE SINCE THEY SOLD ME THE TIRES. In this context, I am hoping that your DEALER will do the same. Then again, that was 50 years ago.

Vehicles do not go back to the factory for repairs, thats a lie. If it was damaged during shipment it would be repaired at the dealership. If its totalled it goes to an insurance lot to be auctioned off and sold. This dealership sounds shady. What's the Vin number for the 23?

Hopefully @fordvideoguy or @KevCuRaoi see this and can add some clarification. It is a Sunday though so it might take some time especially considering this week is Thanksgiving.

I tagged both of them so they will see this thread. Now it's just a matter of waiting.

It's hard to say by just going off the OPs post but you are correct. In the past both @fordvideoguy and @KevCuRaoi have helped other members find out that the vehicle they ordered was sold out from underneath them.

I specifically remember KevCuRaoi doing this on multiple occasions. If @Goatld50 does in fact have a VIN and is willing to share it hopefully Kevin sees this thread and is once again willing to help.
Hey @Goatld50 , sorry you have this crazy situation!

I've never dealt with a vehicle that was sent back to the plant for repairs...but I have heard of it happening.

Your VIN has no warranty start date, so it has not been sold. When I run the VIN on OASIS, I see:
BUILD DATE:28-February-2023 RELEASE DATE:08-September-2023
It sounds like something happened after it was released from the plant, and it was sent back to the plant. Usually, transportation damage is taken care of by the ordering dealer (or sometimes along the way by other dealerships). If it were sent back to the plant, it is probably either more substantial damage, or maybe some other mechanical issue?

It isn't one of the vehicles my dealership ordered, so I can't see any sort of tracking history on it.

The only somewhat similar situation I've dealt with is a vehicle that was damaged all over one side..... there must have been a loose chain on the train and it smashed into the side over and over again. The customer didn't want the vehicle. The damage wasn't bad enough for Ford to take it back (I tried). We had the transportation damage repaired at a body shop, and ordered another vehicle for the customer. Ford (somewhat) prioritized the 2nd order. Scheduling wasn't as immediate as the customer wanted, but Ford did grant us extra allocation to cover the order, and it wasn't too long before the replacement came in.

There is obviously some delay with this vehicle that the dealership has no control over. I'd think that they should be able to work with their Ford rep to make sure that there is allocation to cover a 24 order for you. And that your order should be prioritized. I'd also think that your dealer could work to get a model year transition offer for you as well (the dealership has no power to make this happen, but should fight for it for you).

Good luck!!!

Thanks for chiming in and helping out the OP Kevin. You are a great asset to the MTC community!

I also learned something new in that on rare occasions vehicles do get sent back to the plant.

Thank you for taking the time to look. I'm going to contact my dealership, and Ford to see about getting it switched to a xlt trim. Historically, neither my dealership or me have had a lot of luck with Ford. I do know that this vehicle has never physically made it to my dealership. Again, thank you for

Here is what my dealership is saying, I'm not sure If I agree with this solution. What is everyone's opinion on this solution?

"Your order has not been scheduled yet so you can adjust the order to whatever you want it to be. Just go to Ford.com and build it exactly what you want. I will talk to my general manager but I doubt he will object but what we do is sell it to you at supplier, or x-plan pricing. I will send you a build that will show the discounted sale price. But go to ford's website and send me the build you want. If you have any questions or would like to just adjust your order over the phone give me a call."

You're welcome.

It is true, if you aren't scheduled, you can make changes. There isn't much mark-up on Mavericks, but X-plan is better than MSRP.

It is difficult, because Ford restructured their dealer support staff, and it is much harder to get in contact with someone now (as compared to a couple of years ago), but your dealership should still at least try to talk to their sales rep and see if they can get you a MY transition private offer, and your 24 order expedited!!

I don’t understand how people are not getting price protection. I ordered my 2022 XLT in June of 2021. I didn’t receive it until December 2022. By that time the 2023 order banks were going and prices had increased across the board. My dealership ensured I was price protected for not only the base price but the Lux package, moonroof, and rear window.
My reply is more of a question. My salesman told me that if I take a different Maverick I lose the price protection. Different meaning a different color. Is that correct? I lost $3000 on the one I am driving. I have a lariat working its way north from Mexico. I am tired of giving money away to dealers.

If I recall correctly from the past you could make color and option changes as long as you were not scheduled but a trim change - xl to XLT as an example would cancel the protection but don’t take that as gospel

Are you sure the vehicle was actually damaged during transport?

While it does happen vehicles aren't usually sent back to the factory for repair. If the damage is minor it is usually repaired at the dealer before being sold. If the damage is major the vehicle is usually sold to a salvage yard. I've never heard of a vehicle being sent back to the factory for repair as that is to cost prohibitive.

Are you sure the dealer just didn't sell the vehicle to someone else? That is usually the case when I read threads like these.
He could run a VIN check to see if it’s registered. If so, dealer lied.

In post #23 Tim already did this for the OP and it turned up nothing. @fordvideoguy is another great asset to the MTC community and his help and advice is always appreciated!

Once the vehicle is shipped it is out of Fords control. If it was shipped back to the factory and scrapped, Ford's only obligation is too build you another similar trim. Hopefully they count it as a 23 rollover and provide the private offer.
