yeah? and the backseat was either non-existent, or the size of a phone booth also.True. I'm coming from a 2007 Colorado that could do a u turn in a phone booth.
It turns better than my 2014 F-150 and definitely better than my 41 foot motorhome flat towing my 2025 Maverick![]()
It beats the heck out of the turning circle on the ram heavy duty that I traded in for the Mav.Seems reasonable to me, not gonna have the turning circle of a subcompact hatch, is about the same wheelbase and width as minivans and turns like them, does better than bigger trucks.
Turning radius / diameter of the Maverick is not big. It is less than any pickup on the market, other than the Santa Cruz. Which has a turning radius that is 0.2 feet smaller. So, after driving the Maverick for almost a year and a half, the one thing that continues to irk me is that it seems to have the turning radius of a whale. Any particular reason it is so big? I often have trouble making u-turns on the first go.
I have had many cars over the years (including a couple of land yachts from the '70's) and I have never had a vehicle that turns so wide.
Is it due to the combination of FWD and the extra hybrid gear under the hood?
The turning radius on a 2007 Colorado is 39.4' curb-to-curb, or about 7" less than the Mav. That's not even a noticeable difference. Wall-to-wall the Colorado would have a larger turning circle, due to the larger overhangs.True. I'm coming from a 2007 Colorado that could do a u turn in a phone booth.
Right, this is one of three reasons I got a maverick. The other two are, a 4x8 piece of plywood fits in the bed and a reasonable hope of few problems.Turning radius / diameter of the Maverick is not big. It is less than any pickup on the market, other than the Santa Cruz. Which has a turning radius that is 0.2 feet smaller.
The Maverick turning radius / diameter is also equal to or less than all the full sized AWD cars like model S, M5, RS6, A7, 740 x-drive, S500, etc.
The turning diameter of the Maverick, 40.0 feet, is only slightly larger than a Honda Accord, 38.4 feet. Considering that the Maverick has a 121 inch wheelbase and the Accord is 111 inches, the Maverick is just as good as any of the leading cars on the market.
I am not exaggerating at all when I say the Maverick steering feel is the best of any vehicle I've owned in almost 20 years. I don't want a vague steering feel, or overly light effort.I feel that the steering rack, as a whole, is calibrated right in the sweet spot. It's not too heavy but at the same time, not too light on its feet either. It's evenly weighted. I've made several U-turns from intersections or from a dedicated u-turn lane onto a two-lane road. I always end up just barely making it.
Parking spaces are a non-issue either. The relatively small size makes it easy to fit into a tighter spot or snatching the very end spot. Since I worked as a service porter several years ago, I know how to back into spots which is easy to do in this truck. It would be even better on a 25 refresh thanks to the bigger screen and crisper camera that goes along with it.
Yeah ducking into an entrance or sideroad by a few feet really adds to the room on less wide roads.Driven most every kind of rig that’s ever been made.
These little pick ups are child’s play.
My U-Turn trick when I need that extra two feet. On a wide swing I do it where I start and finish the turn around in someone’s driveway.
That gives me my extra cushion.
