I haven't had an issue making a U-turn.

True. I'm coming from a 2007 Colorado that could do a u turn in a phone booth.
yeah? and the backseat was either non-existent, or the size of a phone booth also. :ROFLMAO:

I agree on the poor turning radius, especially when trying to pull into a parking spot in a crowed lot. It reminds me of a 1965 Mustang.

It turns better than my 2014 F-150 and definitely better than my 41 foot motorhome flat towing my 2025 Maverick 👍
Seems reasonable to me, not gonna have the turning circle of a subcompact hatch, is about the same wheelbase and width as minivans and turns like them, does better than bigger trucks.
It beats the heck out of the turning circle on the ram heavy duty that I traded in for the Mav.

The Mav turn circle is huge if you compare it to the old ICE Smart Car:22.8' curb to curb with a 73" wheelbase.

So, after driving the Maverick for almost a year and a half, the one thing that continues to irk me is that it seems to have the turning radius of a whale. Any particular reason it is so big? I often have trouble making u-turns on the first go.

I have had many cars over the years (including a couple of land yachts from the '70's) and I have never had a vehicle that turns so wide.

Is it due to the combination of FWD and the extra hybrid gear under the hood?
Turning radius / diameter of the Maverick is not big. It is less than any pickup on the market, other than the Santa Cruz. Which has a turning radius that is 0.2 feet smaller.

The Maverick turning radius / diameter is also equal to or less than all the full sized AWD cars like model S, M5, RS6, A7, 740 x-drive, S500, etc.

The turning diameter of the Maverick, 40.0 feet, is only slightly larger than a Honda Accord, 38.4 feet. Considering that the Maverick has a 121 inch wheelbase and the Accord is 111 inches, the Maverick is just as good as any of the leading cars on the market.

The turning radius on a 2007 Colorado is 39.4' curb-to-curb, or about 7" less than the Mav. That's not even a noticeable difference. Wall-to-wall the Colorado would have a larger turning circle, due to the larger overhangs.

Going from a F150 Lariat to the Maverick Lariat gas only, Mac has a great turning radius. I feel spoiled!

Right, this is one of three reasons I got a maverick. The other two are, a 4x8 piece of plywood fits in the bed and a reasonable hope of few problems. 🤞on the last one.

I feel that the steering rack, as a whole, is calibrated right in the sweet spot. It's not too heavy but at the same time, not too light on its feet either. It's evenly weighted. I've made several U-turns from intersections or from a dedicated u-turn lane onto a two-lane road. I always end up just barely making it.

Parking spaces are a non-issue either. The relatively small size makes it easy to fit into a tighter spot or snatching the very end spot. Since I worked as a service porter several years ago, I know how to back into spots which is easy to do in this truck. It would be even better on a 25 refresh thanks to the bigger screen and crisper camera that goes along with it.

Driven most every kind of rig that’s ever been made.
These little pick ups are child’s play.
My U-Turn trick when I need that extra two feet. On a wide swing I do it where I start and finish the turn around in someone’s driveway.
That gives me my extra cushion.

I am not exaggerating at all when I say the Maverick steering feel is the best of any vehicle I've owned in almost 20 years. I don't want a vague steering feel, or overly light effort.

It hasn't seemed to be a problem going from my Saturn Vue to the Maverick. I gained 12" in length but lost 6" in the turn radius.

Yeah ducking into an entrance or sideroad by a few feet really adds to the room on less wide roads.

A lot about style too, seen some ppl only go half lock until they cross the line then wind it all the way over and not have room unless it was a 2 laner with shoulders. Gotta get all the lock ASAP for tightest, which you'd think was obvious, but sommmme ppl. (Actually met ppl that think it doesn't turn unless you are actively moving the wheel, cranking it round rather than set angle and use it.)
