Ok Im looking at the Maverick again. I think I can live with the smaller bed as long as I get a hard/lockable tonneau cover to store stuff in a bin in the back due to low interior storage dimensions(fishing/hunting gear and poles for fishing). I like the closer to 30 than 20 MPG to be honest my current 2020 Forester gets that.. this does also.
I dont really off road any very limited.. stuff like logging trails, dirt roads, farm fields. I just happen to like the looks of the FX4's and Tremors VS a standard say Lariat model..(I have no desire in the Hybrid unless they add AWD to that..a non AWD or 4x4 I wont own anymore) What I really like is the availability of the bed for messier chores and the ability to maybe bring appliances home from a big box store or brush, shrubs, bring home mulch or red rock for driveway get some firewood for the fire pit outback.. stuff that makes the inside of a SUV nasty.
This maverick has the bonus of also getting decent MPG compared to say the Tacoma, Frontier and Ranger. Im not really looking new im looking 2023 since it hits that sweet spot I want price wise for me.
I dont tow anything heavy either just a kayak or Jon boat on a small trailer sometimes.. even my Forester can do that..
So Go Tremor or FX4 probably in Lariat and the lowest id go is XLT. Lariat is preferred. I was looking at a 2021 Ranger Tremor but at least the 2023 has some warranty left on it.
