ooh, you've lived a pampered life if 93 even makes your list!

😱

And if you mean 60, that's dime-a-dozen replicated all over the place.

Go back a few years and it was quite painful, but over the last decade or so, they've lopped off an hour or two. Now, there are only a couple of one lane/direction stretches left, and they're not all that long. And no more waiting before slowly proceeding across the dam. (and on our last trip over that, they were stopping every car!)
Yes, I was referring to 93 from Wickenburg to I 40. Then really bad again coming out of Kingman. It’s pretty rough until you get to Lake Mead then smooth over the Dam and into Vegas. It probably won’t happen in my lifetime but they keep talking about building the new interstate to replace 93. I’ve driven that route several times in my Grand Cherokee and while it was far from being pleasant it was not nearly as loud with road noise as the Maverick. So much so that even my wife says I need to replace the Conti’s already. I agree but I don’t think that will make that much of a difference. Now that I have done the mod with the backer rod and windshield seal from another thread about dash rattles I’m anxious to take the Vegas trip again and see what happens. Seats are OK though.

I have Michelins on my Lariat. The only time it is really noisy is grooved concrete roads. But My F150 with Bridgestones was also noisy on the same road as was my Silverado with Generals.

Seems to be a fair number of complaints about the seat bottom being angled too high and not being adjustable in any configuration (manual or power seats), and I don't doubt it is an issue for some folks, but other than a hand-me-down Audi I had years ago this is the most comfortable vehicle I have owned. I like the cloth seats, and that they are comfortable in any weather condition without needing a bunch of other crap (heaters, vents, etc.).

I would stop short of saying toughen up a bit and take better care of yourself because I know a lot of folks have had legitimate injuries, worked a hard life in the trades or other manual labor for years, and just want to be comfortable. I actually think for that goal, pretty much all modern vehicles fail compared to something like a Grand Marquis that had the pillow soft fabric recliners that adjusted every way possible, with a smooth, quiet ride that made no attempt to be sporty in any way.

Yes. So when I first bought the car back in July I took him home and I really didn’t see an issue with it at first. I felt the seat was kind of short but I didn’t really think it was that bad. Within a week I was feeling awful pain on my left leg. And a horrible pain in my back. I continued for another half of a week and then I started getting sciatic pain shooting down the right leg. So I was contacting a doctor and I tried a regular pad that didn’t really work. Then he recommended I try egg carton foam. What I did was I got the 3 inch foam and I put the seat cover on top of it and so I had that there and then I got a two or 3 inch lumbar pillow so I was literally being pushed in the back 2 to 3 inches in the same as the seat the seat was comfortable for a while until it started to get a little compressed but not much. But it was hard to get in and out of the car because I had to slide my leg under the steering wheel and twist my body all around. I started getting hip pain so I contacted the same doctor again and he suggested a different type of seat cushion which is like a wedge I think. Never really bought those because it didn’t look like it would be that comfortable. So I contacted the Ford dealer who I bought the car from and they suggested the brand purple. I bought the largest one which is called the ultimate and when I put it over the seat I thought it was good at first but then I was sliding off the side because it was so long. I took it back treated in for the royal and I’ve been using that since it’s 2 inches thick and at first it was pretty good but I was using the back pillow so I was getting pushed in the back and pushed up so I was essentially being squished. After a while I got the mindset of taking off both the cushions and trying to drive again. I started getting awful pain again so I started to use the cushion but not the back pillow and I started getting excruciating pain in the back. Almost what it felt like was paralyzing. No matter what type of car eye test drove I felt like I was always in pain.

There was one day a couple of days ago, I think if I’m not mistaken it was Monday yeah Monday day that I drove out to Carmax to get my estimate redone by driving out there I was in so much excruciating pain that I was nearly crying. No I’m not a guy fries but I was in so much pain I had pins and needle pain coming in the back

And it’s at that point where I said to myself I can’t take this anymore. I was thinking of trading in the seeds and all that stuff which I did look at earlier if you could look at a previous post where I was looking at doing the bronco sport seats as a swap and they wouldn’t do those because of some liability issue. Then I asked if they could put the Nissan Murano they wouldn’t do that. So I was in so much pain that Monday I said I can’t do this anymore. I’ve got 42 miles to the gallon which I love that again I love the way it drives I love the way handles I love everything about it except I just can’t be in a car that causes pain
Sounds like the seat is to small for you. Get something with more width and support. The interior is narrow and small. After all, it is a mini 4 door SUV.

Take better care of yourself? Have you even met me? No. Yet you wanna make the comment that I should take better care of myself when you’ve never seen me in person and you don’t know who I am. If it’s not just me making the concern about the bad scene why is it me that has to take better care of myself? Don’t you think just for a minute that Ford had done their due diligence and made the seats a little more comfortable there would be less concerned? Let’s be honest here. No but you wanna come on there and be like some of the other people on here and say oh it’s that I’m overweight or that I don’t take care of myself. You don’t have any idea about me so instead of running off of the mouth either constructive advice or don’t say anything else

No I haven't, but we had cars for decades that didn't have 10 way adjustable seats and people somehow survived. I don't think my grandfathers last F-150 (last person in my family to own a pickup) had adjustable anything, it was just a bench seat and that's what you got.

Sorry, wasn't meant to be a personal attack if you took it that way.

Buy a Ram truck. Most comfy seats. Heck even my Wrangler JL seats are comfortable, lots of support.

I kind of did take it as a personal attack. Mainly because I have a really good buddy of mine who is rather big. I’ve watched him struggle. Now we both have our injuries but it seems like he’s had one right after the other. I’ve always been there to support him and I’ve seen comments that people have made about his weight. That’s kind of why I kind of took it that way. He’s a good buddy and we’ve been close for many years and I’ve seen what it’s done to him

I guess what I’m getting at is yes I’m heavier but not nearly as big as my buddy is and some people I’ve seen but why should it be that somebody can’t drive a car they want to drive? For me I can fit in these seats. That’s not the issue. It’s how they’re designed. Maybe it’s because of the no lumbar support that I’m having the extending issues on my hips as well because your back does affect other parts of your body. Or maybe it’s because I’ve never really gotten a good response with escape seat seats. That’s probably what it is. Because be honest with you I didn’t have a problem with the Ranger. Even though their seats are fairly similar I just don’t really like the fact that it’s not as roomy as the maverick and it’s not a hybrid. Love Ford Explorer seats new shit if I could put that into the Maverick we wouldn’t even have this problem in the first place

But I’ve been looking around man it seems like every other seat that I sit in that’s the same size in terms of width and everything don’t have an issue with it. All of them seemed pretty comfortable I just don’t know what it is about the Maverick

Johnny Cash had a unique way to get in/out of his Ferrari
What year Ferrari did he have? I only know about his Cadillac . . .

:teehee:

I’ve driven that route several times in my Grand Cherokee and while it was far from being pleasant it was not nearly as loud with road noise as the Maverick.
I've done it dozens of times in an E-150, Cadillacs, and a Jeep Wrangler. The caddy Fleetwood was definitely best, but that applies to just about any road . (The E-150, though, did much better than the '93 Fleetwood in accelerating again up the mountain after being cut off by slow trucks!)

I'll be going down next week in the Maverick; I'll try to remember to come back and comment.

Is fat wallet syndrome possible? Wallet neuritis is not uncommon.
Didn't know they called it that, but several years back when I had a sciatica flareup happen...first thing my chiropractor told me was to move my wallet out of my rear pocket when I drove or rode in a vehicle for long drives. It helped a lot and I still do it to this day.
Yes the Wallet in the back pocket can be painful especially on a long trip.
