Just an FYI....the dealership will not ever "switch the seats" for whatever reason they give. If the p/n doesn't match up, they will not do it. Find a local shop instead. Or...trade 'er in on a Lariat....my seats are comfortable for me.

Either way, you have to be willing to spend the $$ to upgrade
....good luck.

I’ve tried to make my seats work and just can’t. I’ve tried almost every thing and the XL seats are extremely uncomfortable. No lumbar support and seat sucks.

This after I did the bed liner and bought a cover

When I post this elsewhere I’m usually met with others telling me their Lariat seats are comfortable. Lariat is not the XL.

So in turn I’m probably going to trade in the Maverick. Never thought I’d be going down this route but I can’t be in pain. I’ve had a Cortizone shot that I had to be given in my hip due to my pain. I’ve had a hip bursitis issue for a while but it was never really inflamed all the time every day until I got the base model. I’ve had to do a whole lot of twisting and turning to get into the car mainly cause I’m on a cushion that’s 2 inches thick so I have to slide my leg underneath it and then bring my foot over and squeeze in and twist and all that. Never thought I’d have to say that but I test her over a Larry odd seat it seemed slightly better even though it’s the exact same foam but I think with the heated seats that could be a help but I don’t know right now it’s just I’m not sure if it’s gonna work. I’ve always wanted a Maverick but the last two months I’ve been hell for me comfort wise. Driving wise I love the handling. I love the way it drives. The speakers suck so I wish those could be upgraded but outside of that. I mean I’m averaging 42 miles a gallon so that should also say something but yeah I can’t drive with pain
What are the specs for the truck? ie year, hybrid, fed, etc?

I totally agree with you. I have the XLT 2023 most uncomfortable seats I’ve ever had. Just reading your article makes my backache.

Sounds like you have Sciatica, if so you need a Dr. Not a different vehicle seat.

I drove 2017 and 2022 Subaru Outbacks for 9 years before recently getting 2025 Maverick XLT Hybrid. The Subaru drivers seat is the most comfortable of any vehicle I ever drove. Last fall I drove 900 miles from Alpena MI to Blytheville AR, a little sore but after 14 hours driving. The XLT seat is good, not as good as the Outback.

Shaquille O’Neal wanted a new Corvette. Can’t fit. He’s a huge guy.
But, he found a shop that would modify (GREATLY!!) a new ‘Vette so it would work for him. Came out great.
Now, I’m not saying that you should put the kind of bread into new seats that Shaq did. What I am saying is that if you throw enough bread at it (like any problem), you can get the seats that you want. Just gotta find the shop qualified and willing.
It’s out there. Keep looking.

Curious what you drove before the maverick? Were those seats ok?

Did you stay at an Holiday Inn Express last night
No but my wife has sciatica. It struck suddenly. She has been to pain management, Chiropractor, Therapy, acupuncture , and massages. Nothing has helped , the doctors say that surgery "might" help. I'm just suggesting that before he takes a lost on vehicles he might want to check his phicial health.

That’s terrible because I have had back surgery and the weekend before I had to drive from South Carolina to Gainesville Florida for a wedding but the seat was extremely comfortable and not an issue. I don’t know if it’s different in an XLT but I am lucky with my ongoing back issues that it is working because I love this truck. Good luck with your future purchase because nobody wants to be in pain driving.

The Ranger has better seats and is easier to get into and out of. The seat goes way back to aid entry and exit. I have a herniated disk L4-L5 and two metal knees. You ate right, I drove an XL and it's less comfortable than my Lariat. I've had two injections on my left shoulder trying to forestall surgery. I wish for you less pain and healing.

To answer the questions or statements, yes I do have sciatica that occurs in at least my right leg. But that is not the one that has been bothersome the whole time. It’s bothered me once or twice in this vehicle. The other issue I have is with the plastic underneath the left leg near the door. It’s such hard plastic that it digs into the bottom of my leg which is what I’m trying to get at.

To answer the other question I drove the Nissan Murano – a 2017.5 and to be honest they were the most comfortable seats I’ve ever had in a vehicle. The second closest were from my favorite car of the Honda element. If Honda had still made the elements I would’ve bought one of those. It’s not even close. But yes those two were the most comfortable. Now the three seats that I’ve had issues with over the years of me owning a car and ironically all of them are cars that I’m looking to get rid of all came from Ford. A 17 escape. A 17 edge. And now the Maverick. I love the way the Maverick looks. I love the way it drives. I don’t really like the sound system because that sucks but I love everything else about it except for the seat seats and I can’t be driving around in a car that’s excruciatingly painful for years on end. Now if you think about it it would make it so much better if it was just 1 inch wider just 1 inch it doesn’t have to be much just 1 inch. A half an inch on both sides. And on top of that it needs to have more foam. The foam that’s in there right now is only 2 inches deep. On top of that I just test drove some Volkswagens that are 5 to 6 inches deep. You give people more cushion and a longer seat not one that stops mid thigh and a little bit wider seat and people will be so much happier. I’m just saying as a hold they have spaced to add another inch. They just didn’t do that. I don’t know why

The Maverick seats suck.
The foam is so thin, anything over an hour drive and I have to use this memory foam pillow to make it tolerable.

Honestly I think I did this to myself. Because they gave me such a good deal where they were giving me the car for 22,000 out the door and I couldn’t pass that up. It was during their employee pricing days in all of this and I was like shit I can’t get a truck for anything like that so let’s do it. It was sitting on a lot and they had 125 miles on it so I didn’t know if anybody had previously owned it who knows but I couldn’t pass the price up. So I rushed out and I got it. Now personally I wanted the 360 camera and all that stuff but like I said I focused on the price instead of doing what I usually do which is comfort.

I just got finished doing a test drive a Volkswagen in their seats are really comfortable. Their gas mileage is terrible though so I didn’t get one of those. Honestly I still like the way the Maverick looks and everything but I just don’t know if I can do it ever again. I’ve just driven the range. It’s not bad. Gas mileage isn’t good either but if I had my perfect way if we’re using just Ford, put the Ford Explorer seat seats into this car and they were great
