I have a 2025 Maverick Hybrid with a spray in bedliner. I currently have a cheap soft rollup cover but the flapping in the wind drives me nuts so I am looking into a hard cover. Would yall recommend a hard roll up, tri fold, or retractable cover? The truck is used for work but is very rarely loaded past the bed cap. I need something fairly waterproof for cardboard or golf clubs

I have this one, it was just on sale for $400 the other week, and I bought it last year for $650.. if you're not in a hurry you should hold out a bit and see if it comes back at a sale price.

Nothing will be waterproof in my opinion, at least out of the box. If it rains, it's almost guaranteed *some* water will dribble in.

Here's a yt short I made about mine

They all leak. I have had $1K+ hard covers, soft, tri fold ect. Have had half a dozen or more over the years. I have a soft roll up now which works fine and is nice and tight. Try adjusting it so it's tighter they usually have spring tensioners on the front or rear. They are all overpriced. 💵

If you carry expensive tools or electronics like I did for 25 years in the bed put them in totes with lids. Then add a hard cover to prevent people using the Stanley knife key to open the soft one. I had a hard tri-fold that sat on the rails on my F150 for the 9 years I had it and it is still on the truck. Some leakage. With a Maverick the fact the bed is part of the cab gives water no where to run off except into the bed. There are ways to mitigate it and I did them but you will still get small amounts of water. If I were buying 1 now I like the model @Aleks showed.

I had a Sentry CT, IMO the best look hard rollup cover on the market. It was secure and did not leak except water running down the tailgate going through the car wash.

I now have a Retraxone retractable cover. I don't miss the 9" of bed length you lose. Going through the car wash it has one very small drip which I can't find. I find it way more convenient than the rollup cover, opening five or six time more often and being able to close it partway is useful.

I have a Worksport AL4 and I haven't had any water intrusion issues one I put the optional sealing striip across the area behind the cab.

I just bought the Leer on sale as well. So I cannot comment if it is leak proof or not. But believe that - like others said - they will all leak. Have also bought a $ 260.00 Autosaver88 hard cover a week earlier which I put on my wife's Mav. Really like it as well. Keeps things somewhat save and easy to put on and off. If someone will get in they will. The same as in your standard car. Would keep a milk crate or 2x4's in there in case something should not get wet - just to raise it off the bed a little bit.

I have a tri fold and love it... gas can sticks up too high, just open first fold... and it doesn't leak!! it was on my '24 and leaked at tailgate, they had it too far forward. Now it's on my '26 and it seated correctly. It goes though automatic car wash and still doesn't leak

no cover will be completely dry. I have the Ford Tri-fold and in normal rain I get almost no water in, however in car washes with the high pressure more does get in.

You're going to read a lot of posts about the $399 Lear bed cover.
That's like saying I bought a new $20,000 Maverick.
What's the point, both of those ships have sailed.

Adam,
Back to your inquiry.
I know you want a hard cover.
What is your budget or preferred budget?
A bed cover that sits above the rails will cost less than one that is flush with the rails. Any preference?

I'll add a vote for this one too. Just installed my this weekend after getting it on that smoking hot $400 deal. It comes with some waterproofing tape - make sure to put that in the gap where the bed rail topper and the back of cab piece meet. I also put a bit at each of the corners.
After it was installed, some of the seals weren't laying flat at the hinges where it has been folded for shipping. Sat the truck outside in the sun for the afternoon and now they're nice and flat.

I purchased a Tyger brand soft cover on Amazon for $200 and am very pleased with it. It did flap a little but I was able to fix it by adjusting the tension a little tighter.

There's a lot to consider if you're choosing the right cover. For keeping golf equipment safe and out of reach, I'd go with a retractable cover that locks. I've said it before, and it's still true- gotta be a Retrax!

They have a lock and key feature for that extra peace of mind that no one is getting in, and they're impressively weather resistant. The RealTruck RetraxPro EZ-OFF FRC-4000 Full Bed Access Manual Retractable Tonneau Cover w/ T-Slot Rails that I have on my truck has made a world of difference for keeping things dry. We've traveled with the truck bed fully loaded and left cargo in the bed, gone through some heavy rainfall without a drop getting into the bed. The tailgate seams dripped a bit, but nothing that we truly noticed as a problem.

If you have a cover in mind or still need help narrowing down the options, DM me or email me and we can make sure it's the right one for your truck. 😎
