Yikes. Old people and hurricanes must play a big factor in FL insurance rates. I'll be around $310 or 6 months of full coverage in Oregon.

Whether Florida or flyover country, comprehensive coverage on a new car is expensive.
I'm in flyover country (rural Minnesota) and with a good driving record and American Family (have used them since 1989 and the "old" folks have used them since 1967) I have a 6 month premium of $550.00.

I am a "AmFam" member too, since 1978..
My 6 month went up to $700.00.
But found out, it's because I am near Milwaukee Metro... 🥴

Actually I think that’s changing to e-bikes because they’re not tagged and no insurance. They go as fast as the golf carts🤣
and just how long will it take for the Fa gov to remedy that cash shortfall?

74 here. No accidents, no tickets, clean driving record. My quote for the Maverick is $$650/year prepaid. At least something is cheaper up here then it is down country.
Are you married?
If so, you pay way less than I do.

Multiple factors could be the cause. CRV may have higher repair costs. Or higher blue book value. Or be more likely to be stolen.
Yeah I agree there are many factors. I just can't figure out what they might be. It's a mid trim CR-V compared with my loaded Lariat. Brand new the CR-V value might be comparable but it's 5 years old. Both I would think would be pretty tough to steal. Similar safety features with lane keeping/departure emergency braking and ACC. Maybe collision ratings but both are probably pretty good.

I wonder if they actually know what they're insuring - they have it listed as a Ford "Maveric" 🤣. They're probably pretty good about keeping track of new models and knowing the cost of insuring them, though.

Yes, married to the lovely Mrs. Bob the Builder for 49 years now. Vermont has among the lowest auto theft crime rates in the country, so that may make a difference. Lowest crime rates generally as well. Coincidentally we have among the least gun laws as well, so maybe that makes a bit of difference. :ROFLMAO: (y) :sneaky:

Auto Insurance...We just got a notice saying ours will go up %50. Nothing on our end has changed, no tickets, accidents or anything. Not in Fl. or Ca. From what I have been reading all or most? insurance companies are raising their rates come 2024. Anyone else see this?

Geeze. Luckily I have not. When I traded in my Volt for the Maverick on the 1st, my Insurance went up only $5/month (Geico). Haven't seen anything about a rate raise that drastic. Who you insured with? May be time to get some quotes.

I have USAA in VA. $439 for 6 months 1K deductible. In the middle for bodily injury and property damage. Wife's 5 year old CRV is $7 cheaper. Go figure.

Insurance rates are crazy, my agent said we need to change companies every 6 months. Thats what we have done the past 1.5 years and the cost has always been much lower jumping around. We had been with Geico for 20 years prior but they had gotten too expensive.

I think you have to look at 6 or 8 quotes every 6 months and keep switching.
It seems that if you stay at any one company too long they start to gouge you.
I've gone away from a company then years later their quote is the best and I go back. Then have to leave again when they jack it up in a year or two.
It isn't like the old days when you can stick with and be loyal to a company for decades - they aren't to you.
I think they see you as a sucker after a couple years.

Just changed auto and house insurance. Saved around 700 on for cars ( or 1 ca, 1 Maverick) I think we change Ins. companies about every year or so. Crazy.

First of all, I am a USAA member. Company has really fallen on hard times, and their insurance rates are garbage. I have not used them for insurance in a long time, because the rates are simply not competitive.
Can confirm, recently moved from USAA that we had for years to State Farm (with their little spy gadget that saves $100 a year per vehicle). Their home insurance was just as bad as the car rates.

I’m 49 in Central Florida just south of Orlando no tickets or accidents and good credit and I pay around $1400 a year for my 23 XLT HYBRID. Insurance in Florida is too high though.
