Hi, Just wanted to get this out there, my 2023 Maverick XLT bought it in auction and was able to fix it up though still missing a few things to patch up such the curtain airbag and the rims are all scratched up and it only had 6,000 miles when I got it. (Currently at 10,000 miles) without any issues I've enjoyed every second of it. My nephew told me that he wants to buy it from me, he has taken quite a liking to it I guess because of the color bright orange I don't blame him I like that color too.

Just wanted to know what would be a fair price to give If I decide to sell it?

Check Kelly's Blue Book online for a ballpark figure.

I agree with packer Bill, check kbb.com and get the private party price for your vehicle with what you have on it, the condition it's in which is usually good, very few vehicles are considered excellent. And then once you have the price if it's a family member knock off a little bit and sell it for that.

Tough to get Excellent with a dealer. Virtually impossible. I fought for it hot and heavy when we traded in our Sonata for a Jeep. The dealer told me if I wanted Excellent, take it home and put 4 new tires on it as the ones that were on it were just under 7/32.

Would help to know why it was at auction.was it totalled? Unmolested examples of that year are going for 27- 31 thousand depending on miles and equipment.

How much did you pay for it?
How much more did you put into it?
How tight are you with your nephew? (From ” He’s a good kid” to “I love him dearly”)
Make a small profit? Take a small loss?
Its intrinsic value is mostly moot when dealing with a relative.

Airbags activate figure take 10 grand off the price you think and if it’s got a salvage title no better than half the KBB value it might have a salvage title because the cost to replace it to spec is more than what it’s worth. Airbag systems and their computers are not cheap.
Some cables are 3 grand. And a 3 month wait

Being wrecked knocks off about 25%
Plus he's family! Don't ripped your nephew off

Being wrecked knocks off about 10%
Or more.

An extreme example, but a few years ago at an auction, I drove an, iirc, 1946 Lincoln V12 four door convertible. I was kind of surprised that it only fetched $30k; it was in great condition.

I couple of hours later, having been designated "the old car guy", I was called over to help someone start an old car.

I was kind of surprised--didn't I just drive this past the podium an hour or two ago. Same year, model, color, etc.

This one fetched $130k. Yes, over four times as much.

Turned out that the one I drove had a salvage title. Were I fool enough to own an old Lincoln, I'd easily take the salvage title and save the $100k.

[You can get parts fairly easily for old, even ancient, Cadillacs, fords, and Mercurys. Lincoln, however . . .]
