Dude I'd kill for a front Camera and parking sensors up there too. So nice having those things. I miss them.
There are options out there to add a front cam, sadly at a similar high cost. I'm holding out hope for a BS Badlands sync 3 APIM conversion some day.

You can also purchase a 12 to 13.2" upgrade kit from fordsync4.com
Looks pretty nice but a bit pricey.

posted this on Facebook but wanted to join here to post it and try to put my thoughts down into somewhat of a install guide for everyone since that has been requested about a thousand times. i installed the sync4 apim and screen from a escape in the maverick the other day. this will be a parts and ROUGH install guide but it will point you all in the right direction, PROGRAMING is up to you. every truck is different. this requires a decent amount of forscan knowledge. and my install is on a lariat that already has the sync 3 system. if you have a xl or xlt there is a thread here on installing a sync4 apim to that truck and you can adapt the two to make it work for you if you want to

PXL_20240718_190146709.jpg

Onto the Install
You Will Need

1. Sync 4 Apim (the sync 4 apim comes in 4 flavors, 8in screen and 12+ screen, with or without navigation. you will obviously need the 12+, the 12+ is identifiable by the 6 pin screen connection the others are only 4 pin)
2. 23+ escape Screen Part No NX7T18B955LE
3. Screen to Apim Plug NC3T14F664AA
4. Power Plug 6U2Z14S411JB
5. Sync 3 pass though harness (i got one of the sync 3 camera adapter plugs on amazon)

i got some stuff from for others on ebay and have about 600 wrapped up in it all

the pass though plug needs modified before install, you need to Completely remove pins 41/42 AND pins 53/54. you can use the removed pins to replace the rca plug and connect the camera back to passing though
C2383A.jpg

the power plug 6U2Z14S411JB will need pin 1 tapped into pin one of the pass though harness and pin 4 tapped into pin 37. this will provide power and ground to the additional connector of the screen.

on to the install.
the apim is located behind the hvac controls and the radio module. once the radio module is out there is a bracket holding the apim in with 3 7mm, remove that and swap the apim out for the 4. run your new screen plugs from the apim up to the screen.

PXL_20240718_183428776.jpg

the screen install is custom, i need to print a bracket for the mount to get rid of my snap-on spacer lol. i used one of the holes to mount the screen and its solid enough but will need to refining
PXL_20240718_190208158.jpg

the tray behind the new screen will need to be modified because the new mount is so high up now. i used a heat gun to massage the plastics out of the way.

plug everything in. the pass though harness is just that a pass though and it allows you to not modify your existing harness in the car. there are several plugs on the sync 4 apim that are not used so dont freak out about that. reinstall everything and you'll be ready for programing

i will try to respond here when i can but Facebook in the maverick groups is probable your best bet. hopefully this is helpful yo you guys
Sorry but I can't banish my copilot to the basement even for a 13.2" screen 😢 LoL.

I like this. Well done @Billzilla15 . Update the post when you refine the aesthetics. I hope you do a complete write up too.

Personally, I don’t understand the obsession with large screens. Yes, the current screen is small, but I’m not focused on it while driving, and it only controls the radio. It seems like a gimmick that started with Tesla and has now been adopted by other manufacturers. Since I’m not driving a Tesla, I’ll stick with the factory-sized screen.

This is truly incredible. Thank you for the break down. That being said I really wish there was a manufacture that made a plug and play head unit with everything built in and all you had to do is just swap out the screen part. Until then this looks like the only viable way to get a larger display. If only Ford themselves offed a like said unit for current owners.

Is the visibility better than stock? That’s my main complaint about the Mav screen, it’s too dim in the daytime.

Sometimes people use it for things other than the radio? Like having a bigger screen for maps would be great.

The MY25 is getting a larger screen anyways so this is the soon-to-be "factory sized" screen.

I would like a screen that at least filled out the area without the awkward cubby (although it does have some practical uses). I would also like a screen that is a little quicker/better sensitivity and higher resolution without the blooming.

Not without upgrading to sync4 the sync3 maxed out at 8in
What I was meaning is that a screen isnt defined so much by its size as much as it is by its resolution. So the current sync 3 screen only supports up to 800x480 pixel resolution. Whether thats a 4" or 8" screen isnt that relevant. sync 3 versions 3.4 and newer support up to 1334x882. I dont see why we couldnt find a panel with a close enough resolution in a size that better fits the dash and attach the hardware to it. The bezel around it would be the hardest part to fix.

Honesty this seems like a hard mod to do either way you go.

On a side note, I only found about about the higher resolution panel as that seems to be something going on with the f150's upgrading their sync 3 screens. There is an 8.46" sync 4 screen that is backwards compatible with sync 3 systems. They are quoted to be interchangeable with the 8.0" screen size wise too.

edit: the 4 inch sync 3 is coming from the f150 forums. seems like ford may have made a 4" compatible version of sync 3. Its clearly not used everywhere based on the maverick though.
