2024 Lariat 12in screen + SYNC4 upgrade - No GPS after install

I have a 2024 Maverick Lariat. Overall I have been very happy with the car with the exception of the screen and no wireless Android Auto

For a while I had my eye on upgrades. Finally, this past week I purchased a SYNC4 + screen upgrade kit from a vendor:

2021-2024 Ford Maverick OEM Sync3 8'' to 12'' Sync4 Upgrade kits – FORDSYNC4

I was able to get the new APIM and screen installed and, after a little tinkering, got wireless AA and the larger screen I had been wanting. Overall, I was happy, but I noticed a few niggling things that I wanted to fix if I could:

• The built-in SYNC maps no longer worked. You see a GPS icon with a red cross over it indicating no GPS available. Right now maps shows my current location as Calgary. The AA maps (google) works fine.
• The car clock no longer auto updates.
• The ford app no longer shows my car location or any other data, so no more long distance remote start. FOB remote start still works.

Believe it or not I would accept the tradeoff, but I'd like to fix those issues if possible. I am not sure if the new APIM needs to be activated somehow within the Ford ecosystem or if I need a new antenna or if it's something else.

Probably unrelated, but for "what it's worth", I tried to upgrade my '22 APIM to the first OEM NAV APIM application ('24?), I worked with a reputable vendor, tried 2 units, could never get the nav to work, both units also showed my current location as incorrect. It seems some trucks are just possessed, and won't play nice. So, I bought a Garmin stand-alone, and gave up.

Unfortunately, that vendor is not as forthcoming as Panda is,,,,

Well poo - that makes sense, thanks for posting the info! Do you think there is a way to 'subscribe' again? I wonder if anyone has managed to pull that off

That just means you can't activate route guidance. The maps are still live & accurate, same as when the Ford subscription expires.

Not sure what subscription you are talking about, my 2024 Lariat route guidance works just fine without any additional fees.

Many of the newer Fords are moving nav (guidance) to subscription based. On a new purchase, you usually get 2-3 years included, then after that, if you want route guidance, there is a subscription price. I don't know what program the '24 Mav was on, but most of the new 25/26 models are subscription based. Most OEM's are doing this now.
