You can try asking the dealership to not install the front plate mount and tell them you have an alternate solution you prefer to use.
Granger did that for me. I've posted my solution for an FX4, others would have to do something else. Just got my plates earlier so I plan to post pics shortly (will add here in addition to my original thread).

This looks great! Looking forward to your review. 👍🏼
Looking forward to your review!
I received the mount today. Looks good for what I needed. To attach in the Tow Hook area, the hook would need to be removed. I wanted it centered and it works great for that:

It was a little costly, but it attached to that lower grill nicely. On a related note, the dimples for drilling are located on the unpainted part. You can see them if you look on most of the photos.

Any wobble or shifting? The way the mounting hooks are thrown over the grill slats looks prone to movement. Unless there is another point of contact that I can't see.

I like the location, but wonder if it’s blocking the active shutters.

It locks down pretty tightly. The backing for the bracket has foam on it, so it helps to keep any wobble out. The left/right shift is prevented by the small dividers of the lower grill.

Not sure, but this is the same black, only slightly lower than where the default dimples would've put the plate.

I may be wrong and I'm sure you will tell me if I am but for those states that require front plates, mounts should be supplied from the factory and installed. If your state does not require them, why should Ford put them on? That is just an extra cost. Of course, as shown above, many of us like to put our own stuff on the front and now have to figure out a way to do it.
Here's one that will crank some of you up: License plates are just that, plates. They are not "tags." Tags have a string on them to hang on a product for sale or provide info.

Ford doesn't install them, the dealer puts them on at PDI. Unless you tell them not to. They are a no cost option. Some dealers don't even order them if not state required.
