Back when I got ‘22 I had come across this: https://frostfighter.com/clear-view...SJciMn7YuyKGnA8Rtl6hT4GHav-cTcCU6vqQspFQ3xxcM

At the time, it seemed like having the sliding window restricted the amount of grid line length. And trying to figure out how to get it on the sliding part was going to be tricky.
But if you don’t have a sliding window, it seemed like it could work.

It ended up not being a big deal for me, as I park in a garage, so I never pursued it again.

Great post.
Seems like this option would work perfectly for a foggy/icy rear window.
I did not realize something like frostfighter existed for diy.
I have never owned a pickup truck that had a heated rear window.

In the winter when wearing a helmet with a full face shield. I use Rain-X defogger spray on the clear Shield.

Is this really needed? (And before all the wise guys reply, I'm in Canada! I know you don't need it in Florida / Mexico / Arizona etc 😄)

The $100 frostfighter kit sounds great, but I don't think it works on Lariats with the sliding rear window?

" burn $1 of gas vs rigging an aftermarket defrost - "

Sounds like a logical solution! Thanks. Jeff

Ha, peasants!

I know defrosting windows is a job for "the help" but I'm looking for options in case they get stuck driving to our mansion and we need to go out and stock up on champagne and caviar 😂

Did you consider getting a 12v fan, clipping it onto the rear edge of the center console, and pointing it at the back window? Surely there is enough hot air in the front seats to travel the few feet back and keep the rear window from fogging up. You might direct the center vents directly towards the fan to insure it had a good supply of conditioned air.
Using fans was a very common way to clear windshields of condensation, etc, and should still work pretty well. Maybe get someone who can created printable designs to come up with a base to hold the fan in place.
When JC Whitney and Warshawski & Co was in business, you could order the electric heating devices. I think there were two versions, one with a clear plastic 'carrier', the other where the conductors were put onto the rear glass the same way a decal is applied. I had that style, but OEM, on a Pinto wagon, used in IN, OH, and CO, and really had few instances where it was needed. I likely would still have gotten it if it was an option.

Well, the smart-ass answer is to keep a cloth "something" in the truck to simply wipe it down when this happens. 🤷‍♂️

The more technical solution is trying an anti-fog treatment on the glass. I have used products on motorcycle helmet visors with decent results in the past. Rain-X makes an automotive-focused product, but there are others...

While there's very rarely any frost, rear windows fog up practically daily in Florida due to the high humidity. I really miss having a defogger on my Maverick.

Uh, or we could just open our window to see out 😂

Or remote-start, as stated earlier.

Also, in a pinch, turn on the backup cam?

Is the AC not kicking on automatically to lower the humidity to lower the frequency or severity of it?
Remember to have the heat up so it's not just cold air.

I know for short trips and bringing in a load of water on shoes say - it won't catch up, and can have frost the next morning on inside. Remote start about the only thing then.

Oh, for the auto-AC, the button won't look pressed, but if you have no warmth set, you'll feel it probably.
