So this pedal is mounted on a thin metal plate that's attached to the rubber floor mat with only two tiny screws? 😬
Let's start at the bottom with carpet, velcro on bottom of a sizeable and STURDY metal plate (see pic's) which attaches to carpet for stability and aid in movement restriction, then two appropriately sized steel screws attach the steel bracket on the bottom of the pedal.

Also remember that the weather tech mats are attached securely at the back of the drivers foot well.

I should note that I will continue to monitor the safety and effectiveness of this mod as we go along...that is what I do.

So, there you go. As I have installed and tested it for safety and security for the task at hand which is to actuate the gas pedal, I feel for me that it is fit for purpose.

I hope this has alleviated your concerns and thanks for your feedback!

Cheers,

Andy

I just put stair tread tape on the pedals
Damn! That idea would have saved me as nightmare! Thank you! My oily boot slipped off the brake and stabbed the gas pedal. After only driving my Maverick for three days, now in the body shop for six months waiting on a backordered $135 sensor harness. $10 in tape would have prevented $10,000 in damage.

When I read your story, I could only hope that your wait isn't as long as thought. Sorry about your truck.

There are a lot of ideas and products thst may serve you best for your pedals. I have seen others here on the site install and vouch for covers (rubber maybe?) That go over the stock pedals, some have grippier rubber inserts in them...maybe just getting some non-skid/step anti slip would work best, only you can find whst works best!

(I reposted this to its own thread from the "is the gas pedal adjustable thread").

I have been reviewing several of the threads here for the problem of smaller statured people having their foot slip off the bottom of the gas pedal due to its position and smallish size.

So, after reading a lot of comments and exploring the inter-web for possible answers, my favourite solution is the one I laughed at the first time I saw it on Amazon.

Please let me explain my thought process. There were many, many intricate bolt on pedal extender solutions with even more points with potential for failure. And with what it's job is (operating the accelerator pedal), failure is not an option.

My solution (K-I-S-S principle)so that my wife (5 ft...er...tall...) can comfortably and safely drive the truck without screwing it up for me as I am the primary driver was what I call an "organ pedal". Same idea as I saw on one of the other threads from an older vehicle.

I now have a plate under my weather tech floor mat, 2 holes drilled through them after siting the organ pedal appropriately, and bolting the organ pedal down with 2 nuts. One of the nuts also has a spring attached to assist with the organ pedals return to neutral position when you take your foot off the accelerator pedal.

It is important to position the "organ pedal" so that it fully engages the trucks accelerator pedal with no chance of sliding off to the left or right. Or, slipping off the bottom if you stomp it hard.

I thoroughly tested it before mounting it to the floor mat and there is no way for it to lose contact with the pedal or jam it I any way...I am kind of persnickity about these things (okay, about pretty much everyrhing), but this in particular, right now.

The only thing I would say to add is a couple drops of locktite on the threads and then tighten/secure the nuts so they won't possibly back off.

I couldn't lock wire them in place but did witness mark them for inspection in the future.

I attached 3 straps of velcro to the bottom of the metal plate (they came with the pkg) and they secured nicely to the carpet under the floor mat. I like this, as it adds another layer of security that the plate will not easily move.

The reason this came to light this week is that it finally warmed up here in Manitoba that my wife didn't have her winter (snow) boots on, and they are quite a bit larger than warm weather footwear.

Okay, I hope this helps anyone else that runs into the same issue. I will now try to add photos to help those that need a photo or two to figure out if this is a solution for them...or not. Cheers!

Andy, it's not her or you. I'm 5'10" and I OFTEN feel the accelerator is positioned too far to the right, and the brake is also, plus that pedal is too small! (But i do love my '25 Tremor!)

We haven't had any problem with the left or right positioning of the pedals so far. Our issue was with the length of the gas pedal itself.

We were able to help her with that (with the pedal extender as detailed above), without affecting my comfort while I am driving.

Yes, I feel the pedal contact point is insufficient but being able to correct it in this simple way is satisfying.

It is nice to hear you are enjoying your Tremor and we love our Lariat Hybrid as well!

We have had various inferior vehicles over the years so we feel very fortunate to have our Lariat, and we hope to be able to enjoy it for many more years.

Cheers,

Andy

Yes, the plate appears to be on the underside of the floor mat.

On long trips, I tend to drive with the side of my foot laying on the floor and mostly using my big toe (with shoes on) to control the gas pedal.
I just use cruise control.

My late wife claimed she was 5'2", she wasn't unless she was in her 70s platform shoes lol. So buying a vehicle she was comfortable driving and I was at 6'2" was almost impossible. Her last vehicle was a 2005 Jeep Liberty. Fit her like a glove. I could barely sit in it with the drivers seat all the way back, I hated it. Through our 42 years of marriage She NEVER drove my vehicle and I only drove hers for diagnostic purposes or dire necessity. BTW she hated when I would sing 'Short people".
Yes, it can be a challenge if looking for only one vehicle for 2 dissimilar size drivers. But we had it sorted out now easily and cheaply done.

I laughed out loud when you said you had a 2005 Jeep Liberty. We had a 2004 Liberty as our only driver from 2007 to 2017...drove it here in Canada as well as the three years we lived in The Hague Netherlands (one of her postings). We loved the Jeep itself for size and awd capability but hated the fuel mileage and the floor hump that intruded into the drivers foot well...you had to bend your leg around it to reach the accelerator pedal! Just awful. Ours was a lemon big time, always breaking down for expensive reasons (and I take care of my things). Terrible quality, but that was my only Jeep experience.

A quick story about the Jeep in Europe, it was a poppy red, really deep and beautiful colour. Nothing else like it there as they don't like paying for colour.

It even ruled the left lane on the Autobaan! Big snow storm in the Black Foredt area, everyone else following the cut trail in the right lane while the left lane was about 9 inches of untouched snow heaven. I signaled over and put my NA winter tires in awd and blew by everyone else the whole day...good times.

So glad to be in our Mav!

Yeah, I know! Crazy, eh....a Jeep Liberty in the left lane on the autobahn, passing all the fancy cars. ;-)

The next day I was safely back in the right hand lane. A lot of drivers could use that little kernel of knowledge.

Unintended acceleration.
The devil is in the details and installing the pedal properly is of primary importance.

I am keeping a weather eye on this modification, and unintended acceleration is not a concern.

I have functioned the pedal many, many times (by hand and now with foot as I drive it) as part of my trial and it won't press itself...so it is good to go!

Cheers

Good day, all.

I thought I would pop in a quick update on this modification, as we have had a bit of time with it in our truck.

The pedal extender has been working exactly as designed, with no problems or issues, which is definitely a good thing! No alignment issues, no slipping off the side of the gas pedal, no hooking or catching or any other impediment to safe operation of the gas pedal or driving comfort.

The only note would be thst the gas pedal feels just a little bit less sensitive, which is not an issue with us as I haven't noticed the difference after the first time or two we went out to run errands.

Now I am waiting for our first service at our Ford dealer (only half way to the 4 thousand mile/6500 km mark) as to what their thoughts may be on this improvement on the gas pedal actuation method!

Have a good one,

Andy

It amazes me how people can make a significant investment in something like a vehicle and not bother to RTFM.
Some people never had to wait 360 days (I acknowledge the fact that many waited even longer than this) from ordering to delivery, giving us time to read the manual (My23 and My24) from cover to cover 3 - 4 times even before driving one.

The individual I was referring to in my quote had six years to read the manual and still didn't. I had only 59 days from order until delivery of my '24 and had it read, so I don't think he had much of an excuse.
