I have a Rockford Fosgate P300-8P under my rear bench running on auto-detect (offset-detect, not audio detect) only. My truck will start right up after 12 days parked (longest it has ever gone unused). I'd say auto detect is not as bad as you'd think for draining batteries.
So the 8 inch fits under the seat? Been debating between the 8 and the 10. If the 8 fits I’ll go that route

Yes, the 8 inch does barely fit under the rear seat on either side in my ecoboost, it should fit under your hybrid's driver side, but you do need to remove the plastic tub on the side you'll place the subwoofer in order for the seat to latch back on.

It has served me very well for years, but initial setup was very touchy as I had to dial in the orientation as the angled positition it has to take is rather prone to some unexpected interference. I installed it on the passenger side, perhaps it won't be so dramatic under the driver's side, after all most people seem to choose that side. Try to point the port into the middle of the seat so its airflow is not obstructed.

I'm in the process of installing a drop-in sealed box for a 10 inch sub that doesn't require taking off the plastic tub, but I'm currently unable as my dear mav had its tranny grenade itself and is currently at the dealer awaiting a warranty replacement.

You also have an ecoboost, which doesn't have the same tiny battery as the hybrid we are talking about :)

If you go with a shallow mount component sub you can put a 8-in or 10 in under the rear seat with a separate box. A few companies make boxes for a 8-10in shallow mount sub. You would then install your mono amp for the sub behind the seat.

I put a 10-in shallow mount kicker Comp RT on my passenger side of my EcoBoost, using a ground shaker box. This will result in much better bass response than the smaller all in ones.

How does the hybrid system behave when adding an amp? Like when sitting idle for example and the engine shuts off? Surely it wouldn't allow it to drain the 12v when the engine is not running correct?
Power generation from the DC-DC converter has nothing to do with the status of the ICE running or not. The converter draws from the high-voltage battery and the ICE will start based on the charge level of that.

Yeah, the hybrid power system is a funny chain:
ICE & braking regen -> High Voltage Battery -> DC converter -> 12V battery -> car electronics

so does amps/subwoofers take away from MPG in anyway? or is it just the residual unused power. what difference would 100 watts, vs 500 watts, vs 1000 watts of aftermarket sub affect a hybrid? if any between them?

Considering that, first of all, 1000 watts is ear-splitting loud in such a small space, it would only happen at most for fractions of a second at max volume, and average draw would be like 100 watts when listening at a very high volume (just spitballing), not noticeable at all.

Consider also that moving a vehicle requires a surpisingly large amount of power. The hybrid's total mechanical power output is rated at 200 horsepower, which is over 149kW, that is, 149,000 watts, just to put it into perspective. It would be a smaller impact than using the AC, which in an average car requires 1 to 3 hp depending on climate conditions if my memory serves me well.

Finally got around to installing the Rockford Fosgate P300-10. Used Fuse 3 for rem. Had to have my dad help since I'm a bit handicap (right wrist surgery) Anyway turned it up for a few seconds to see it worked great backed out of the garage and didnt even have it turned up much and the radio just went blank. Turned truck off and back on and the radio came back.

Any ideas? About to head out and do a few things so I guess I'll see if it happens again. We grounded it to an exsisting ground behind the rear seat, far left rear passenger side if that means anything.

Also for the audio input tapped into the factory sub with the bed harness that came with the truck

This may be pure coincidence. I've had the radio freeze up a few times and just require a reset. Keep us posted if it's repetitive.

Will post an update once I get to my destination. Granted just under 500 miles put on it so far. Only thing I could think of is maybe the ground spot. Not sure what the existing ground goes to thats there.

Was a bit of a nervous moment when it happened. Havent installed an amp/sub in 10 years. Last job 4 years ago for a 4 channel amp I just paid someone to do it.

Which right now any little thing just will make my stress levels shoot through the roof another problem to solve later haha.

After about 15 miles of driving no issue. Hopefully just was a fluke. Its no 500w 12" but no hatch so I'll make due.

Installed behind the passenger seat. Just need to find something to wrap/hide the bit of wires sticking out the side. Back seats RARELY ever gets used except storage when traveling, so not a big deal to me.

Not as clean as I'm used to, but do need to tweak the gain abit, I'm guessing the B&O amp outputs pretty loud to the fractory sub, Barely have the gain on and it hits.
