That is just slick! I watched their video on construction. Is it as straight-forward as it looks on video? It seems like 75% of the work / time might be sanding and finishing.

Yup, tons and tons of sanding and finishing. Really depends on how perfect you want to get it. It's really cool to see how it all comes together and how rock-solid it is when complete.

You guys are being a bit "conservative" with your Mavs.


I installed a 7 pin and Tekonsha P3 digital proportional brake controller.
The Mav pulls this fine and the trailer stops itself. With trailer brake gain at maximum, the trailer will stop the Mav too! So rest assured plenty of braking power and plenty of horsepower for 55 mph up 6% grades. The thing I have is a wind drag, may as well be a parachute so MPG was 19 uphill and 21 downhill. The thing is such a parachute with wind drag at 55-60 mph I was using gas, not brakes going down most hills! (Not the 6% but engine brake worked GREAT on the 6% downgrade). On 4% downgrade this parachute will need a little gas. 3300lbs.

I don't have that boat.
But based on size and shape, be careful cornering and parking. You'll forget the trailer is there. The truck's barely gonna know it's pulling that.

Tows and stops great.Getting 22mpg in tow mode.

We got rid of my 6-speed manual Tacoma so that my wife could drive on trips when we tow our little teardrop. It's only about 450 lbs loaded up so it's no problem for our hybrid. What do you all tow with your Mav?

Last week I added "another Maverick" to the list of things I've towed...Had all the Ford salesmen slack jawed when I towed home the Hybrid. I ordered one of each in Nov 2021. The turbo delivered 4/11/2022, (or 27,000 miles ago), and the hybrid just delivered 3/20/2023....

Originally thought I'd drive the hybrid and sell the turbo to my company as a work truck or something. But now I'm the one unwilling to give up the 4,000lb tow rating and AWD.

I asked the Ford salesmen not to tell the service dept. I was towing a 5,200 lb truck + trailer home with the turbo so they don't void my warranty...like they'll honor it anyway...

I just have to put on the deck rigging and I'm ready to take her out this spring (I'm in MI and it's cold now). Now I'm trying to figure out how to transport my kayak on my Maverick. I have the bed racks and I think I'm going to have the roof rails installed....the thought having holes drill on the roof is nerve racking and I don't like the door lip mounts.

I haul my kayak with this $64 bed extender. I've used it with the tailgate up and down, adjusting the bed extender height to match:

That's what I'm talking about GPSMan! I loaded sand blast grit till it was 4,000 lbs of trailer and sand and set sail getting 12.5 mpg on flat highway.

Great comparison of the two blue colors. The one is back is not Alto Blue is it? But looks too dark to be Atlas Blue.

I'm confused but I'd choose the color in back.

YES! That was my first comment when I saw it: "The "Electric Blue", isn't sooooo "Electric"..."

Checked the color codes on the door sticker and they are indeed different...I ordered two "electric blue" Mavericks in Nov 2021. The turbo showed up as a 2022 model in electric blue 4/11/2022. The hybrid delivered March 2023 as the next year model. Did they discontinue "electric blue" for "Alto Blue" or something in 2023?

It never occurred to me to try, but yes, I guess I could if needed. The trailer has a marine deep cycle battery that has, I think, an 80amp-hour rating. That's plenty to run the fans and lights for 2 nights. There's a 50W solar panel on the back that does a good job topping off the battery during the day, assuming you're parked in sunlight or out on the road. Finally, there's a 110v on-board battery charger so I can plug in at campsites with electric and when it's parked in the garage at home.
