Anyone experienced anything like this? I got the hybrid and am really worried that this could be an issue. There are a lot of bad spots to hit the underbelly of your car around my city. I really don't want to have to deal with something like this.

I guess if it is potentially an issue with this vehicle, is there anything I can do to mitigate potential damage? Would installing a skid plate work?

I wouldn't be worried more than with any other car, certainly not "really worried." How is hitting road debris an issue specific to the Maverick hybrid? Could happen with any other car, just a hazard of driving

sounds like PCV valve (in engine bay) stuck open and having same effect as loose or missing gas cap on cars with gas cap that gives CEL warning. Should be a cheap parts replacement and nothing to do with hitting road debris.

He ran over a freaking tire doing 70. There's a good chance you're going to do damage to any car in that scenario. And how does he define "too low" with respect to the muffler? Compared to what? I bet the muffler still sits higher than most sedans. Not meaning to give you a hard time here, I think you're just unnecessarily worrying over nothing. One guy on Reddit hitting a tire on the interstate does not mean there's a problem with every maverick hybrid out there

Karen ran over a tire doing 70mph, now it's a Ford Class Action issue....

:unsure: :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Damage due to colliding with an object is not covered by an OEM's inherent warranty, it may be covered under the owner's auto insurance..

Im not a tech, but everytime i see an evap issue, i think of gas , evap pump and charcoal canister.

when i fill the tank i always stop on first clic.. i don't continue.. some people are just too greedy, and they fill their tank until they can see the fuel.

always stop filling on first clic

A skid plate may have helped but at 70 it may have launched your hybrid several feet into the air but probably not as high as a big or deer would have. From the error code sounds like the fuel tank has lost pressure and it could be because the tank is loosing pressure. Might be something easy to fix but might have to pull tank and other to find actual leak.

Sell it and buy something else that you fell more comfortable in without worrying 😟

I had a similar issue on my F-150. I was bad about continuing to fill my gas after it had clicked off. That evaporative valve is designed to handle gas fumes and not in its liquid form which can happen if you overfill your tank. Liquid gas will cause the valve to get gummy and stick. Look in your owners manual under fueling and I would bet there is a note in there about not over filling the gas tank. I had to replace that valve due to error messages and a rough idle so I learned my lesson on that.

Wrap your truck in bubble wrap and store it in the garage.

Not sure but I believe in Auto manufacture sites in the specifications, list standard ground clearance.

Okay… point taken, it’s clearly not a big deal. Lol
