Unfortunately, that screen doesn't show us the last time you hit the reset button, so we can't tell if it's over a 1-mile downhill stretch or 500 miles. Let's see Trip 1 or 2 with at least a couple of hundred miles to get a better average.

100% agree with you.

He better call Ford and let them know he added two things to make their engine get at least 10 mpgs per mile better. I'm sure that setup tested in a controlled environment wouldn't show those gains if any at all. This is all placebo noise and wallet weight reduction.

Here is one with some in town driving having to stop for a couple of traffic lights. No reset for over 40 miles. Just under 4o mpg.

I can fill up, drive the 80 mile round trip and fill up again and use just over 2 gallons. I admit to not driving over 65mph, but the A/C is on.
I only average 24 mpg in town only.

I will be making this trip again this Friday so I will reset trip 1 at the beginning of the trip and photo the end result at the destination showing the mpg and distance traveled since reset. Then I will reset trip 1 and drive home where I will again photo the mpg and distance traveled since reset. .

What kind of difference?
Air intake sucking noises, you know the placebo effect is perceived real. Without a real software tune all of them are a waste of $ from a performance perspective (just my opinion)

I would agree. Most are worse than stock in terms of air temps and filtration degree as well.

I understand the ear pleasure. Back in the late 60’s early 70’s as teens we would turn the air filter cover upside down, get on the road and kick it in passing gear, man we thought we had a beast on our hands with all that sucking air ear pleasure. Man what great memories!!!!

Ford Maverick S&B intake installed. What a difference IMG_2257

Wow! This product is amazing! 39.37% airflow improvement? Since gasoline engines have to run at a stoichiometric ratio in order to run at all, a 39.37% increase in airflow will also mean a 39.37% increase in fuel used and a 39.37% increase in horsepower output. Anyone confirmed on a dyno that just changing out this intake alone will will increase the ecoboost to 348 hp?

No? No one? I’m sure S&B must have a dyno chart showing their hp improvements, right? They don’t?

Who would have guessed that they are just bullshitting the public to con them out of $350, in exchange for $35 worth of molded plastic?

I’m going to bet that if someone took them to court for false advertising, they would claim that they never said a 39.37% INCREASE in airflow. They said a 39.37% IMPROVEMENT in airflow. And they quantified that improvement in airflow as decrease in static pressure at a given flow rate.

The significance is that they can then manipulate the test. For example, they can show that their filter requires 39.37% less static pressure than the stock filter to move say, 2,000 CFM. But in reality a 250 hp engine only needs 600 cfm. So the stock filter is sized for 600 cfm, not 2,000 cfm. And at 600 cfm, the aftermarket filter doesn’t flow any better than the stock filter.

The significance is that they can then manipulate the test. For example, they can show that their filter requires 39.7% less static pressure than the stock filter to move say, 2,000 CFM. But in reality a 250 hp engine only needs 600 cfm. So the stock filter is sized for 600 cfm, not 2,000 cfm. And at 600 cfm, the aftermarket filter doesn’t flow any better than the stock filter.
but it looks neat and makes whooshing noises.

Ah yes, the upside down air cleaner lid on my 75 GMC Jimmy 4x4, 400 small block, 4 bbl. Fun times! Sorry, should have taken this off topic. 😝

Lots of negative vibes here in regards to intakes, to each his own and I cant speak to the other kits out there but I do know that the S/B unit replaces not only the intake grill scoop, airbox and airflow tubing but also the very small turbo inlet which none of the other kits do and its build quality is top notch.

It's just a tiny bit more intake noise than stock but delvers a great driving experience upgrade. I highly recommend to anyone with an Eco/Boost who wants a little more oomph out of their rig -

I'm always dubious of any added power or benefits claim to an aftermarket intake on a small turbo motor. I'm curious how they can claim to increase flow by 40%? Is that just a more freely flowing filter? Bigger piping? Does it matter? Doesn't the ECU just compensate for the increased air? I would think the main performance barrier in these motors is the intercooler being tiny and quickly heat soaked, not air intake.

Turbo noises are fun though, I guess.
Exactly unless you have dyno numbers it's more of a; I spent a ton of money on this, so yea I feel a difference.
