I never noticed this thread until the reply yesterday, and I see the OP hasn't been here in a while but I'll ask anyway -

what specific sensor value was giving high temp readings? on my AP I look at charge air temp, which is after the intercooler and more relevant as it's going into the throttle body. Intake air temp (IAT) is what's in the pic and I've logged it before, but I don't look at it on a gauge. I'd be curious if the OP -or anyone else with a tune and this type of intake- sees high values from charge air temp, or this much variation whether the top is open or shut. (I say 'this type' intentionally because I think afe is a similar design.)

BTW the 2025 factory airbox draws above the radiator, not behind. it also has a hell of a lot less plumbing and I'm guessing that Ford did that for good reason.

With my ap charge air temp is consistent 20° +/- ambient temp with any kind of movement ( obviously idling it rises pretty quickly) that's With afe intake and cvf intercooler. It was pretty similar pre intercooler maybe 25 - 30 ° before

I noticed when removing the stock intake, the tube just above the turbo had some heat shield adhesive. The SB unit does not have this. Was thinking about trying to gorilla glue it to the underside of the SB -

I actually pulled the factory heat shielding off the intake tube and used hvac foil tape to attach it to my afe intake in the same spot. I suppose that would have been relevant in my previous post lol

Yep I should have done mine before installing the whole intake.

So where is the refrigeration unit that makes the incoming air cold ?

My stock system, 85 degrees outside, 85 degree air gets sucked in.
65 degrees outside, follow me ?

Why is it called a
‘Cold Air Intake’ ?

What is the benefit ? My fuel air system would simply limit any extra air coming in to maintain the stock fuel air ratio.

I can understand it with a re tune. But still,
Cold Air Intake ?
I doubt that.

I have the S/B and think its great- Fit n finish is top notch- Gives the Mav some more growl and zip while being really quiet- The OEM airbox sucks in regards to getting the filter out and then back in using its dumb tabs- With that being said yes it flows more "air" than stock and with that might lower the intake charge by a couple of degrees but if folks are really advertising Intakes as CAI why not do something to heat proof them from intake to turbo inlet ? That engine bay gets hot AF -

Cold Air Intake--It's just a term coined by who knows who to differentiate intakes that draw air from outside as opposed to drawing air from under the hood.

S&B with twin Velossa inlets, Cobb tune:

Ambient temp - 99 degrees
Intake air temp - 103 degrees
Charge air temp - 114 degrees (factory intercooler)

When turbo rolls above 15# the CAI will come down a few degrees.

Not noisey but you can hear it (stereo off) when accelerating hard, and you can hear it dump when you let off. Cover off it is louder.

80,000 miles, zero problems, all recalls still open, little truck is still fun.

It's easier to say than "It is cooler than what you had before" Intake.
Cooler looking, I get that but opening the hood with a four banger isn’t cool it’s just a four cylinder.
Cool under the hood died with the V-8’s when they got buried under emission crap.

In the old days, before a 1/4 mile race, we used to load up the intake/carb area with a whole lot of ice-cubes to cool things down. Don’t laugh young’uns, it worked.
