Huh?if they had made a hybrid version of the Santa Cruz, I probably would have bought one. At the time, I didn't even know about the Maverick until I was researching the Santa Cruz. Ford was so focused on urban Millennials and Gen Z, they completely ignored Gen X.
As a member of Gen X, I can assure you that everyone completely ignores Gen X.if they had made a hybrid version of the Santa Cruz, I probably would have bought one. So true... we're a small generation... and too pragmatic to be marketed to...As a member of Gen X, I can assure you that everyone completely ignores Gen X.
Im in my 30s and the maverick has truck appeal that cruz doesn’t have . I know the idea is suppsoe be new brat but I don’t see it . Hyundai really can’t make good looking car or truck. The Kia are much better looking and it’s same company so idk what the issue isNo ageism here. I'm 64, but every driver I've seen in a SC was a 70 year old plus female. I know most of us are boomers, but the Mav drivers seem to be all ages.
It's not as if the Brat was a massive sales hit.Im in my 30s and the maverick has truck appeal that cruz doesn’t have . I know the idea is suppsoe be new brat but I don’t see it .
For some reason I always see people say bring back brat lol it’s looks ehIt's not as if the Brat was a massive sales hit.
Build quality on the Cruz is an advantage see post 79?Looks are the main Ford advantage, along with hybrid version. Build quality and warranty is the Cruz advantage. The Maverick is a cute truck. Most drivers I see are older, like myself. Manufacturers just don't get the attraction of a cheaper economy car base with a truck look. To much like a car and sales suffer from the avid truck person that needs a little less truck or already has a full size truck.

But the mileage was not great, and 4 ft bed…I know a lot of Ford fanboys will rejoice at this rumor of the Santa Cruz being cancelled.
But the Santa Cruz really isn't a bad vehicle, it's a very comfortable and capable truck and yes the looks are a little polarizing but there are other vehicles with questionable looks that sell well. The interior is really nice and kind of makes the Maverick interior feel like a cheap toy.
I think where Hyundai really missed the mark with the Santa Cruz is with fuel efficiency. People are looking for fuel efficient vehicles more than ever and the Santa Cruz gas mileage is no better than a midsize truck. Meanwhile the Maverick Ecoboost easily beats the SC in fuel efficiency and the Maverick Hybrid mpg rating destroys the SC's mpg rating. Most people looking for a small truck or any smaller vehicle are doing so, at least in part, for better fuel economy.
It was also quite a bit more expensive for the 2022 & 2023 model years but Ford has now raised the price substantially each year on the Maverick and now the cost of Hyundai and the Maverick aren't very far off.
Because we can"Most drivers I see are older, like myself."
Same.
Bought my XL a year after retirement and you're right - I see way more older people driving Mavs.
Why is that???
3 years head start? It has 5 model years head start already. And prices on new trucks will not be going down. Prices on Mavericks are going up, and features have been deleted. But Ford did increase power in the Hybrids, and give us a bigger infotainment system.its sad to see another truck, especially in this segment of the market, be discontinued but I believe if you think GM, Toyota and Honda will let Ford run away with this segment all alone you would be sadly mistaken. GM, Toyota and Honda want a piece of this pie too!! Not to mention RAM that is looking at the 150K Mavericks sold last year - nah they not gone sit still. Get ready to see more competition in this segment late this year to early next year.
Only advantage the Maverick will have is its 3 years head start. and all new redesign for 2028 (Ford is expecting the competition and wont sit still either)
This will be good for us the consumers as prices will have to drop/more added features.
Probably the highest percentage of Maverick Owners though. So true... we're a small generation... and too pragmatic to be marketed to...
