When i charge under hood i connect the negative cable to the oddball vertical post on the driver side inner fender. The G5 is not anywhere near a heat source. It usually goes to a solid green after a couple hours. that's how it goes with my suburban, as well. I can move the negative to a body ground this morning and see what happens. Thanks for the input. I'm not too worked up, i'm just starting to lean to an agm battery. we shouldn't have to jump and dance to keep these hybrid 12v batteries alive.
If you get another warranty replacement - you will get an AGM.

True on dealing with this.

You have plenty of drive time - you shouldn't be having issues anyway.
You probably have a bad battery sensor like I'm convinced I have.
The BMS system thinks it's equal on charging and discharging Ah's - but the fact it's a long drive fight to get past 57% SOC currently - proves it can't be.
Even self-discharge if it wasn't driven daily would not knock a 45 Ah battery down that bad.
Actually - my replacement bigger battery has no label about Ah, only 65 RC.

I did not know that, thanks! I just assumed they would just throw infinity OEM equipped parts at it until the warranty expired.
I'll just wait and see if it bricks itself, again. I'm under warranty until 01/27.

For the clamp. Exactly. just took the plastic linings out near the battery and then put them back into place lol
I hope you did the BSR and the BMS procedure after the installation.
Here is one of my previous posts on the subject.
The correct size is H4 unless you want to do modifications including, bending some metal and removing the plastic surround allowing you to install the larger H5 battery.
If you are planning on installing the battery yourself you may want to plan on getting one of these a magnetic socket from Amazon.

Give me a moment please..... this is going to be a long and involved post

Removing the battery clamp nut isn't the problem, but reinstalling it is.

As you can plainly see.
Even with the proper size H4 battery it's a tight fit.

When I eventually end up replacing my battery.
I don't know if I will remove the plastic surround or order a 10 mm magnetic socket. I would think it's harder to get the battery hold down clamp in the proper position with the plastic surround in place.

Then there is the process of making sure the new battery is charged 100% before doing the BMS relearn. This is something most places that install your battery probably will not do.
From the manual.

This is about as comprehensive a post as I can help you out with.
Good Luck.

Ladies and gents (mostly gents I suspect) I do believe I have solved the HYBRID 12v battery mystery.

I will start a new thread soon because this fix is simple, and APPEARS to work!

Yes it is a faulty BMS.
I have found a work around to manually control the BMS.

Teaser: my 2022 HYBRID 12v battery has maintained 100% charge for a week straight. And charging occurs at 98% and it tops off to 100% before stopping active charging. Float/Maintain voltage now stays at 14.2 indefinitely.

Teaser:
Ford Maverick Replacing the Hybrid's OEM 12v. Battery IMG_7813

98% with 5 amps charging.
98% after a cold start after sitting parked overnight 13 hours.

Ford Maverick Replacing the Hybrid's OEM 12v. Battery IMG_7816

100% 0 amps - neither charging nor discharging

Ford Maverick Replacing the Hybrid's OEM 12v. Battery IMG_8030

Different day, 100% neither charging nor discharging. Maintaining 14.2 v.

Ford Maverick Replacing the Hybrid's OEM 12v. Battery IMG_7836

99% and 1 amp charging.

This fix is so simple (and yet dumb) I have a hard time believing it. But 7 days in a row of consistent results.

Should I call Ford?

Going to do two more experiments.
Then the post 200 of you are waiting to see. No shore power charging is in my future.

I have a theoretical additional fix I want to test but need a part to arrive from Amazon. Then I want to purposefully try to put it back to the old way and see what happens.

To be continued.

Please don't say you flipped the battery sensor around!

Good morning @Mavster Mechanic

Okay, I am on the edge of my seat now, awaiting this bit of good news!

If true, this could really cut down on 12 v battery issues...so maybe Ford can cut you a nice cheque once they get wind of it.

And now I go back, wait, and check for any more issues out there for the driver door locking "of its own volition...". I have a picture all ready to go that I copied from an earlier thread!

😉

Really!!!
You're going to make us wait.

Next thing you know you're going to put it behind a paywall.😲😲

I hope you at least have Amazon prime.

If guys in suits from Ford show up at your door,
don't answer it and hide.

Just sayin.

😉😉😉😉 👍👍👍

Good luck and thank you in advance.

No. But I considered removing it until I stumbled upon something way better.
Happy accident makes 3 years of data suddenly make sense. Stay tuned.
I'll be the test subject for the daily 2x 15 min drives. Longer on weekends.
You are the long drive of course.
Next is the infrequent driver, with shorter trips. I'm thinking there are a plethora of volunteers.
But at least 2 have Forscan Lite for data I know of. Some others have your scanner.

I'm not applying any fix to my currently dying SLA warranty battery - I want my AGM!
But I'll test against the SLA if I can revert it - still got a year. Shouldn't take that long... :frown:
