My dealer just called for what was suppose to be the rear lighting fix on tows. She said you need to bring it in now…. I don’t tow. She said,,,, oh, it is not just towing, you might might have rear signals and your dash isnt telling you. Just a heads up.

Have you checked your VIN online to see what recall it is?

Or use Ford app which would likely show it too?

And your address may be bad in their system - you should have received a letter, they probably called because you are a non-response.

I was just in for service and they fixed a tow module that was recalled. Service department told me they had to tow one guy it left him on the side of the road.

I did check the VIN. It said no fix was yet available and it was only in towing mode. . Nothing on the Ford App. Happy that the dealership called me to say ther is now a fix. I told her that the initial recall said it was only for towing mode. She said,,,, no it is for just when you do normal driving. Relationship with a dealer is important.

My local dealer called and said they could come to my house and do the recall. I said come on out! The technician, a nice young lady who was also a Maverick owner, finished in a short time and thanked me and was gone. BTW this was not the dealer I purchased from. Great service.

My daughter worked for a dealership once and was appalled that they required her to make a certain number of service appointments a day. Telling people they needed service when they really didn't. Then when they came in they were hit with a lot of upsell services that were unnecessary. Just beware of anything at the service department of a dealership. They want your $$$.

I don't get it. It said for towing, it says if you aren't towing you can delay the update. So what is it for? Towing, or just normal driving. I would assume if it were just for normal driving it would be more urgent from Ford.

I have a 2024 Ford Maverick Lariat and just had the update done by my dealership in my driveway. The update is available. No cost.
Just do it!

You could still get alerts on dashboard for the miscommunication that occurs.
All the system knows is the TRM didn't respond. It doesn't know if a trailer is there or not.

And extra dashboard lights causes extra calls that may not be needed.

And then there's the driver that says they barely tow anything, so delay the recall.
Next thing you know they do tow, get the issue, ignore the dashboard because they forgot a key cycle may recover it - and tow without lights or trailer brakes.

This, the system comes on every time you turn on the truck. Example, if I am towing, it will tell me the trailer is connected. If I stop, turn off the truck and disconnect the trailer, the next time I start the truck it will tell me the trailer is disconnected. At least I recall it working that way, could just be my memory playing tricks on me.
