Just installed one on my Maverick and ran into the same issues as mentioned in the thread above. I also took a dremel to the section that was catching then sanded it smooth.

Back in the mid 90's I had "ventvisor"
bug deflector on my 93 Ranger extended cab..Trying to clean underneath was a pain, because you had to remove the shield. First and last one I would ever own. Thirty plus years have not changed my mind.
Now a days. I would consider removable self-healing clear paint protection film.
Take care.

I too have had these problems. The 3rd one they sent we was better on the the hole pattern with 3 out of 4 lining up. Also used a Dremel tool to clear the fenders. I put the rubber bumpers on the bottom of the guard rather than stick it on the painted hood.

I ordered one also, hoping to get a 'good' one. Delivered Sunday, and went right back in the box.
The mount area was warped so bad, it would never have mounted up.
Also, has several areas on the front that were rough looking.
To Real Trucks credit, they didn't argue over refunding me. I told them I didn't want to take a chance on another having issues.
Refund should be done in 2 to 3 days. Going to get the EGR version.

The @Realtruck AVS® Bugflector® II Bug Shield seems to be fairly controversial, but I decided to give it a shot anyway. Here's my experience.

The quality and appearance of the deflector itself is pretty good and it's pretty affordable ($79.99 before $15 rebate). My hardware holes matched up perfectly with the holes in my hood. The main complaint I've seen from early adopters was that the holes didn't match. The provided hardware seemed to work fine. I'd seen complaints about the quality of the hardware, too.

My problems started when I shut and opened my hood after installation. I hadn't seen this mentioned anywhere previously, but my deflector scraped the leading corners of both of my fender panels when I closed my hood. To get the hood open, I had to scrape both corners, again.

I had adjusted the hood bumpers, as the instructions say, but I don't think this could have been prevented, even if I had raised them a lot. The only way I could see to get the clearance I needed was to remove some material from the deflector with a Dremel. This was easy and it works fine, now, but it really shouldn't have been necessary. I would have been much happier if this had been part of the instructions and I could have saved my paint.

(At least I already had touch up paint coming for another nick.)

P.S. I haven't decided if the rubber bumpers they provide are necessary. These attach to the hood with adhesive and are supposed to protect the hood if the deflector ... deflects too much? It seems unlikely that it would bend that far and I'd rather not glue things to my paint. Does anyone else have experience with these?

Clean the backside of Bugflector II with rubbing alcohol, then apply "bumpstops" on backside; same end result but you don't have to stick them on your hood paint; it's aggravating enough to have to paint the edges of the fenders where it chips the paint~~~~ I had same problem; seems like realtruck.com would have taken care of this by now since they own AVS ~~~ they're losing business if they don't address it

For what it's worth..., I just installed one of these that I ordered from AutoZone, which was drop-shipped from AVS in early June, 2024. They seem to have resolved all the previous problems with hole alignment and interference on the fenders. Mine fit well. I don't think the suplied fasteners are great and may look for something that I feel a bit better about. With a 20% online coupon I got it for $50.39 plus taxes. Free shipping!

I bought a 2025 Maverick XL AWD Hybrid in January 2025. My wife basically said "do it" after I beat cancer. Anyway, I was shopping for the 2024 model, but they were all frozen due to the backup camera issue. Guessing the problem is larger than coding; more likely the mini-pc in the 2024 can't support the requirements. Anyhow, I ended up with the 2025 because it was someone else's special order and when it came time to pick it up, they demanded another $3K off the price. I was on a wait-list, dealer notified me and I snapped it up.

So I'm posting because I wanted to put a deflector on the hood and guards on the windows. The truck doesn't do so great with the windows cracked when going at any real speed. I went with the EGR 573591 in-Channel Window Visors Front and Rear, Dark Smoke Finish off Amazon and the Auto Ventshade (AVS) Smoke Bug Deflector 25980. Installed both without any issues. No edges on the fender/headlight as reported for early models.

Also had the back sprayed with Linex bed liner after purchase and bought a fiberglass 3-piece folding hard tonneau (XTWEEX) off Amazon. The tonneau is solid enough to stand on. Happy with all add-ons. Visor and hood guard photos attached. I put the window guards on late today. Will test them tomorrow. Expecting them to help with wind wub-wub when the windows are cracked open. In most vehicles I've owned opening the right front and left rear windows or left front and right rear stops the wub-wub of the air. Not so much with my Maverick so looking forward to the test tomorrow. Sorry for the lenghty post. Loving the truck. Averaging 38+ / gal.

I bought the BugFlector II because (a) it uses an underside mount instead of the stupid stick-on tape, and (b) it also covered the tops of the fenders unlike the others. I got it from TDot Performance. The instructions that came with it are useless. The online video is also useless, showing the install on a RAM instead of a Maverick. Having had underside-mounted air deflectors previously on my Rangers, I was pretty comfortable installing it without the useless instructions. The holes lined up perfectly and the install was very obvious and easy. On the RAM video, they show installing the nubs on the hood, which is stupid. I put them at the appropriate places on the plastic, with a couple on the outside edge area to stop the ends from wobbling in strong winds. I have had no issues with it hitting the hood or fenders and damaging paint. Its very easy to clean, and if I ever need to remove it, then it comes off cleanly, with no nubs to remove from the hood. Its a lot better design than the stick-on factory and aftermarket ones.

I installed a deflector on my 1999 F150 years ago. It was supposed to keep bugs off the windshield. That was pure unadulterated marketing BS. It did a great job of protecting the front of the hood that it covered. That was the only function it provided. I removed it used a jig saw to cut it in smaller pieces so it would fit in the trash. Never again.
