Don't do that. If they can't refund you for their product being poorly manufactured without either you keeping it or them taking it back, tell them to pound sand. I've delt with that response from someone before and I told them basically "if you can't refund or RMA the product then forget about it". No good reason you should have to destroy something you paid for. I hate it when shady companies do that. The company I dealt with wanted me to cut wires and send pics. Hell naw. Refund me or don't.They told me to field destroy it and I’ll get a refund in a couple of days.

Just drill the new hole and get the refund.
Use a tap first. Or slow rpm with pressure to create a tap guide hole from the point on the drill bit.How did you stop the drill from slipping? I tried to drill new holes but the drill bit just slid all over the place. I ended up using double sided tape instead. It's been probably 8 months and no issues yet
