Hey crew, based on all the great info on these forums I've been able to upgrade my stock speakers in my XL hybrid, and this past week got a Kicker HS10 all wired up. It sounds fantastic! ... when I have it sitting on the rear seat. I followed the video from Andy's Amateur Adventures and got it mounted on the wall behind the seat, and it's super rattly and buzzy every time the bass kicks now. Picked up sound deadener and applied it all over the wall, no difference that I can notice. Any advice on how to get rid of the rattle? This is my first time adventure with DIY car audio, so appreciate any insight or correction.

Are you sure the rattle is coming from the rear wall and not the headliner?

interesting the sound deadening did not help. I have a 10 inch sub under the drivers side back seat and I’m getting a rattle from what seems to be the drivers side back door panel but when I push on it the rattle does not go away.

I was considering sound deadening but now you got me 2nd guessing that might not be the right approach. hope you find out what your rattle is. can definitely get annoying, luckily mine doesn’t rattle all the time. I usually just turn it up louder 🫨

play music with the backrest folded down and see what's rattling.

^^^ What he said! My guess would be the panel that snaps in up top that is in the bottom of the picture you posted. That is especially true if some of the clips have come off. Oh, I just noticed the wires laying across the sub! Those will definitely make some racket if they are in that position with the seat up. You don't want anything touching the enclosure that isn't bolted to it.

Thanks to those who have taken the time to reply. The rattle happens with the seat down and the trim removed. I went ahead and pulled every loose item out of the truck, and removed the tonneau cover just in case. Really, it sounds to me like it's coming from inside the rear wall. If it's at all useful, here's a recording of my situation in action.
At this point I may try shifting the subwoofer under the rear seat, but I don't know if the bin is large enough in the hybrid.

that video is useful for demonstrating what you're hearing but obviously we can't localize it like you might be able to in person. I would definitely double check any fastener you installed or touched during install (like an existing ground).

I would play a test sweep on a loop. kicker has a bunch of them, use the narrowest band that reproduces it, like 20-150hz for example. don't have it too ridiculously loud because the HS10 I'm sure can over extend on 20hz, but of course loud enough to reproduce the vibration.

edit: meant to link to Kicker's test tones. check here: https://www.kicker.com/2023-training

Some thoughts . . . seat belt buckles, battery tie downs, spare tire kit, is there something loose inside the speaker housing, is the housing itself tight (it looks like the case is two pieces). Bass notes can also cause rattles from outside the vehicle, like exhaust shields and large unsupported body panels (sound deadening helps there).
The best advice I have is, run the stereo with music that causes the problem and place your hands on anything and everything to find it. Even roll the windows down because it maybe be in the doors.
Good luck.
