The dealership may absolutely play a significant part in this. They make the first call on coverage. If engaged properly, the Service Manager could either make the call to cover the battery or stonewall the OP and deny. I personally had a positive outcome with my dealership on a similar situation on one of my Raptors.Unfortunately, the dealership has no say in this. and it is not their responsibility.
The OPs State also plays a role in this as some State's coverage Laws may prevail and supersede the stated Ford Warranty in this situation. .
The warranties contained in this booklet and all questions regarding their enforceability and interpretation are governed by the law of the state in which you purchased your Ford vehicle. Some states do not allow Ford to limit how long an implied warranty lasts or to exclude or limit incidental or consequential damages.
It's all addressed in the 'Consequential Damage" sections within the Ford Warranty document.
Or the OP could just push the EZ button and purchase his own replacement battery and end up with a battery that's both better than the OEM Motorcraft, and have a fresh warranty.
