Mine shipped 10/16 original ETA was yesterday 11/5. Mine now shows 12/7 for dealer ETA. My suspicion is that it’s just sitting at the rail yard waiting to be loaded into a truck. The trucking industry is having its own struggles as well. This has nothing to do with build quality IMO.

Also, Ford had not even sent me an email with the updated date. I only knew mine got pushed because I regularly check the tracker.
It could be shipping issues, sure. You're not worried about it at all? I'd just like to know what's really going on.

Will damage before delivery always be reflected in a car report like that? Even if it's fixed, I don't know that I'm interested in paying sticker price for a truck with repaired damage showing on its vehicle history already...I would have thought that if it was in manufacturer's hands the whole time they'd just fix it and say nothing to anyone about it. They'd be able to do that easily if I as a buyer didn't start questioning the process because of this red flag in the timeline.
I take it that this is an Ecoboost since hybrids are not shipping?

My issue with that is that I shouldn't have gotten any notice of shipping, nor should it have been scheduled to arrive today (per the tracker and discussion with my dealer) if it had somehow never left the plant. I agree, generally, I'd rather have them fix issues before I take delivery than have to keep bringing it in.
I agree. I actually just said in another thread that despite everyone's frustrations regarding this vehicle release, the only thing you can truly blame Ford for is their communication failure. There's a lot going on logistically around the world right now that is out of their hands, but there is no excuse for not communicating and keeping the customer updated.

Even if it's fixed, I don't know that I'm interested in paying sticker price for a truck with repaired damage showing on its vehicle history already...I would have thought that if it was in manufacturer's hands the whole time they'd just fix it and say nothing to anyone about it. I'm not sure how many new cars you've bought over the years, but have you ever asked for a damage report prior to buying a new car off the showroom floor? As others in this thread have mentioned, people obviously do. I've never done it. All the new cars I've bought always pass the smell test, there's no reason for me to assume it was dinged up prior to the dealer receiving it because if it was, it was properly fixed. It comes with the same warranty either way and unless you were made aware, you would never know the difference. For all I know, all the cars I've purchased could have been backed into and had doors replaced, different wheels, etc. but throughout my entire ownership of the vehicle, I would have never know as it was never an issue that effected my ownership. Only reason we are skeptical in this instance is because it is a custom, trackable order and again, Ford's failure in communication. When it finally arrives, if it passes the smell test, I wouldn't be concerned. I don't think it would be worth getting all worked up over as long as it was fixed properly and wasn't some side of the road bondo and rattle can job.

Yep. XLT with most of the options.

See I agree, but at least if others are experiencing the same that seems like a shipping issue more than damage at delivery. Still could be a quality problem, but if they're not contacting guys who already took delivery I suspect it's just a shipping problem..

Mine has already shipped. If it were not already Built and Shipped, sure I might start to wonder. If my build was just sitting In-Production for long amount of time, that's where I'd probably really panic. The fact that mine has shipped and the delivery date has just been pushed back really seems like a shipping delay. There's a major shortage of drivers in the trucking industry. If it's taking a few extra weeks to coordinate the final delivery, so be it. I'm not going to get myself worked up over something I don't have any control over right now.
That's fair, and I respect your patience. I'm trying to be. I just sincerely wish they could be up front when they know there will be delays, rather than admitting things aren't working out after we've already figured that out on our end.

I wouldn't automatically assume it's a Quality "problem". Could be a shipment of components didn't arrive on time pushing out delivery schedule, could be an assembly line issue, could be a huge COVID outbreak causing shortage of workers, could be weather related (it's hurricane season) affecting transport of vehicles (train, trucks) and inability to even arrange it accurately or other reasons. I'd bet it is transport related somehow...

On the communication front, there's what? supposedly 100k orders they are trying to fill? How many fulltime employees do think it might take to micromanage 100K accounts with real time updates on each 1? Seems to me they are doing a reasonable job managing events beyond their control in an ever-changing environment and can't fault them for the communication part of it. I doubt they relish the thought of unhappy customers and poor reviews and feedback circulating globally.

Everything in this process can be set to automatically update the customer and dealership, but somehow we still have inconsistent and vague updates and notification. Just sucks having to pester everyone for any kind of answer when the plan we were given at the outset falls through repeatedly. I'm not mad at anyone, and I don't think I'm being unreasonable. They've got $1000 of my money, the least they can do is let me know what's going on, which again, an automatically generated email would do just fine.

I can confirm this, as I'm not too terribly comfy with mine having been In Production for a full month now. Dunno that I'd necessarily say panic, as I think quality is gonna be a roll of the dice for all of us, but it's not comforting, lol. If I do still go through with the purchase though, there's definitely less and less chance I'm gonna want to own this thing outside of the base warranty.

If the dealer has their own bodyshop, repaired damage might not be on any Carfax

On top of all of this, there is news video online showing folks from across the border riding the rails inside brand new vehicles being imported from Mexico. So, if your Maverick has a lived in look (or smell) when it arrives, that's why.

Seems like the vehicles would be locked, but I guess not.

Cars can be broken into. Use a slim jim, etc, probably can be in the car in a matter of minutes.

If you think about it, where do they put all the keys for the 100's of trucks per train? It would be a logistical nightmare to separate them from the vehicles. You would think the easiest thing would be for them to leave the keys in each vehicle and thus they would be unlocked. I mean they are relatively "secure" on the train, as in no one is going to be driving off with one just because the keys are in there. You would assume the train cars would be locked to prevent people from even getting to the vehicles in the first place.

Update: called my dealer (will call Ford eventually, too), who was able today to provide a rail car number finally, but on his end there's a line on the shipping notes that reads "stop ship". He wasn't sure what that meant or why it's on there - said he hadn't seen that particular message before.

My brother bought a brand new car and every time he drove it on a dealer lot a salesman would ask what happened to the car, why had the door been painted?

It bugged him to no end! It must have been shipping damage.
