I'm pondering the purchase of a 702A Lobo in the future. I want all of the upgrades that go with the 702A package, but I have no use for the Pro Trailer Assist Package that come with it. I've made it 60 years without having to tow anything, so I can do without it. I would consider ordering the trim and controls from a 402A (without the trailer control knob) and swapping everything over. Can the control for the PTA be removed without having anything else (BLIS, etc) going haywire?

I don't think the knob is going to jump off the dashboard and bite you. And there are no consequences for accidentally hitting it.

Agreed
I could possibly see more going wrong trying to remove the system, than just leaving it there and ignoring it.

I'd just go ahead and order that truck anyways, the pro trailer assist is just another feature for resale later on down the road.

Just leaving it there, you won't notice it's there

You don't have to use it. I got my 2025 right before they added it. Argued with the dealer to take off the charge since it didn't have it. It looks useful for backing up to hook up a trailer. I probably would have used it once for kicks and never again.

I learned a long time ago I don’t have to use every option that comes in every package and I certainly would not remove any of them

My main issue with it is that it's where the volume control should be.

Removing the system seems a little silly to me, but I will say that given the relative frequency with which I need the Trailer Assist vs needing to adjust the volume of the stereo, I'd rather they have swapped their positions.

I have it and will eventually plan on using it with my 4.5' X 8' aluminum utility trailer. I occasionally find myself hitting the button instead of the start button as that is approximately where my Chevy Equinox start button is. The Tow Package with the Trailer Assist will help with resale value when the time comes and it is not hurting anything if it is never used.

Just because it is there, you don't have to use it. It doesn't activate itself in backing situations.

And the very rare occasions I turn my radio on. I still use the knob about 50% of the time, to adjust the volume. For 50 years of driving and using my right hand to adjust the volume on the radio it's a hard habit to break.

Having to use my left for the the steering wheel controls is not intuitive to me, yet.

Just order it like you want with the 702A pkg. Like others have said, you don't have to use it and its much easier to use the one on the steering wheel. Trying to remove it, swap things, etc. will probably just open up a can of worms of issues going haywire. Imo with experiences of the feature on our expedition and f150, it's more of a marketing gimmick than anything else, I don't even bother with it, its less of an effort use the side mirrors and look out the back window. just my 2 cents
