Tried the Pro Trailer Backup Assist...

Hooked up our utility trailer for a trip tomorrow, and decided to test out the Pro Trailer Backup Assist, never used such a thing before. On a small utility trailer (13 ft. length ball to bumper) like this, it's pretty functional, it makes it basically impossible to jack knife or get into too much trouble. It doesn't turn in as aggressively as I do at the start of a turn, but then again that's how I sometimes get a short trailer into some trouble. So far I didn't hit my mark doing a 90 degree reverse turn every time, but it's really pretty easy. There's a small delay while it recognizes the trailer when you first engage it, so in traffic that would be unwelcome, but other than that, two thumbs up really. But the best part was....

My wife has never backed up a trailer very successfully, tried a few times but that's one of those "leave it to me" kind of jobs. She backed this thing up to the side door of our house and backed it around a 90 degree bend into a single car garage like it was nothing. Amazing really. I think she's better at it than I am!
