This is beyond ridiculous and the fact that ford hasn’t acknowledged the problem at this point makes me never want to buy a ford again.

haven’t taken mine on the freeway (just got the first one last Saturday) because I don’t feel comfortable doing so.

Add me to the list. Truck died in the middle of a busy road. I was able to pull over and let it sit. Started it up, got another couple miles down the road, and it died again. Full plethora of warning messages. Let it sit some more - it started and I was able to drive it home. Pulled the codes: U1011 and U1028.

The update was performed when they replaced my exhaust due to another issue. My truck has had numerous issues. Owning this vehicle has become a chore.

I picked my maverick up in November 22, the only issue I’ve had with it was the brakes jamming on occasionally at low speeds. Haven’t had that issue since the update a few weeks ago.

Had this same powertrain error happen the other day, about two weeks after the update. The dealership found Hybrid PCM and regular PCM errors, reset and reloaded the software. It’s been about 100 miles so far and no repeat.

I really hope this fixes the problem, I’ve loved my maverick so far, but this could cause a serious safety concern.

Did you ever get this resolved. This has happened to me twice in the past week. It sat at the dealer for 2 days and they said they couldn't reproduce the issue. Cleared the codes, and said bring it in next time.
So after about 4 days of waiting they finally called me and saw the faults in history and could not conclude on the final issue through looking at the codes and could not duplicate the issue. They did find an issue with the EVAP system but said it has nothing to do with the power train issue. They said they will test drive it and told to also check at the speed it happened to me which was 79mph but they cannot go above 75mph which I understand. It is still in the shop will update as soon as I here more.

Guys, when you take it in the dealer, make sure you tell them the issue happened after the PCM (power control module) update, NOT the cluster and tailight update. Keep the dealer from trying to focus on the tailight/cluster recall. This is obviously is a power train issue. This issue is so important and can cause a serious problem unless quickly addressed. My 2023 VIN# did not fall into needing the PCM update, just the cluster/tailight ones. I have not had your concerns. I have been tracking the posts regarding this and this is REALLY SERIOUS! I would not drive the truck after the dealer says it's ok to drive until they at minimum reprogram the PCM and SOBDMC modules with the latest software. Just looking out for you guys. I mean, come on, no one needs to loose all power in the middle of the road!!

I joined the unfortunate club today. Had the software update done about 2 weeks ago. Lucky I was pulling out of a parking lot where there was no traffic.

never had a car drive like that before. First it lost power and wouldn’t accelerate. I pulled over and shut off the car. Turned it back on and headed back to where I came from. All the sudden it was accelerating without my foot on the gas. Bizzare.

had the code cleared by a friend and it’s been ok the last couple drives but I’m afraid to take it on the freeway.

What software update did you have done? Was it a software recall?

Hello! I just had RECALLS completed on 02/23/2024 : 24C01 & 23C41 and drove car on 02/25/2024 at 75mph speed (in Texas) and within 1 hour of driving the vehicle began flashing same issue mentioned and brought speed down to MAX 35mph with NO FOOT on pedal. Almost got hit by 18 wheeler! Took it to dealer and 300 miles plus they drove and could not replicate issue. Gave vehicle back and it happened again 03/09/2024 at 70mph ...

Definitely believe it was the update that caused the issue. Extremely dangerous and SCARY too say the least to have the vehicle stop at such high speeds and have almost no control.

What year and what motor do you have. I just bought my maverick a week ago. It was built in March 2024 2.0L motor fwd. Thanks

Did the reprograming to latest software level fix it on yours? Or was that part of the recall?
By the way mine is at Star Ford in Glendale. I see you are in Pasadena. What dealer are you using?

I get the impression that dealer service technicians are woefully undertrained for programming. Or worse, they send one of them on a course, and he/she comes backs and shows the others how it is done. Hell, I'm a computer programmer and I found my Forscan experience intimidating. We can only hope the techs are tested and graded after their training...which I doubt.

Yes, the reprogramming fixed my issue for now. On the FB group a memeber said that the dealer replaced his part. Which they didnt replace anything on mine besides the software. I'm using Envision/Advantage Ford in Duarte. It's "close" to my home and they get Lyfts for me. Your Mav has the same issue as mine? Keep me posted on what your dealer does.
Cheers!

Mine has been at the dealer since 3/1 and Ford Corporate sill has no idea. It’s very frustrating.

People on this forum, Reddit, FB, we need to all get togather and notify Ford collectively somehow.

Hello,

I am new to this forum thing and this thread caught my attention so I created an account.

On Sunday Morning I was driving on the freeway and got what everybody else is getting,
Check engine light
Power train light (wrench)/reduced power
Brake light
pre-collision light/pre-collision unavailable
Hill assist message
Will engage in gear selected at low speed.
Pulled over, shut it off, turned it back on, put in drive and it started accelerating on its own but only up to about 20mph, stopped and shut it off again. Turned back on and all the messages and light disappeared except check engine light remained on. Drove home and parked it. Monday after work, got in it all light were gone, talked with dealer and they said bring it in saw a bunch of codes. Drove it there and didn't have any issues. I am scared to take on the highway to work which I do everyday. It did have the recent software update regarding the emissions control system and something about brake lights. . That was done around 36650 miles and this new issue came up around 36880 miles.

Dealer will not get to it for another couple of days. Will see what happens.
Got my truck back from dealer and of course they could not duplicate. I could tell they drove it awhile and they said they took it on the freeway with no issues. They did find a different issue not related to this supposedly (HVAC communication error). They are going to replace the HVAC module later. I took mine out also on the freeway for about 42 miles and did not have any issues. Will see what happens.

whelp, after about 250 miles the error has replicated itself. She’s back at the dealership. Let’s see what they can find now.
