Yeah the manual won't tell you what your truck has- they'd have to write dozens of manuals.

None of my previous owner's manuals have been confusing at all.

Yeah, that site does not work. Unbelievably, it says my 2.5yr-old Mav sticker has not been released yet.
After the vehicle has been reported sold. The sticker is removed from the system. 🙁

Is it just me, or is this vehicle manual about the crappiest one Ford could have put together???
I recently bought a Maverick XLT AWD from my father and I'm going through the manual looking for all the features & controls to know what this truck is capable of; especially the proximity sensors and alerts. My dad's memory is failing and he doesn't remember what all his truck was equipped with.
This has got to be the WORST vehicle manual I have ever seen. The paper is so thin and the pictures are so dark, it's sometimes impossible to tell what they are trying to show me. I'm probably going to look for an aftermarket book to get a better feel for the truck. I believe I have the 4k towing towing package, but can't find any place in my vehicle or documentation to verify that. I welcome anyone's help with that.
I could be wrong but if you have both trailer connectors, the 4 pin and round 8 pin in the rear bumper, that means it's 4k tow.

I just search the PDF if I need to look up something in the manual.
Even on my phone, the PDF hyperlinks in the TOC work fine. Just one click and I'm 300 pages deep, where I want to be.

In keeping with the spirit of the thread, the trick is to remember the ridiculous things, like the fact that the maintenance instructions and the fluid specifications aren't even in the same area of the TOC, much less in the manual content itself. Dumb, but you can learn to work around it I guess.

I have to say the manual is terrible. I found the index at the back to be absolutely useless. I just bought my 2022 Mav used and tried to find several features using the index. Nothing! I got much more help using the search guide at the front of the manual. Once I found the section I needed it was hunt and find exercise nailing down my search. The info contained wasn't that bad, but over the last 40 years I've owned cars from every domestic and most foreign manufacturer, and this is the worst I've seen.

I agree that the organization is ridiculous in printed form. The search function bypasses the TOC and goes right to the section I want. It's a workaround to the ridiculousness, but a good one if you know what to search for. My printed manual stays in the glovebox, but it's a last resort resource.

Is this just a limitation of the downloaded PDF? I didn't check the in-truck electronic version. The legend is labeled A through I, but the picture is not labeled.

So, you figure out the panel in question in this thread falls under 'G' so you go to page 321 and none of the buttons other than the Hazard Flasher button are defined or explained.

Perhaps, this is because the physical buttons and functions vary with trim levels. That brings up the question why, if the manuals are only available electronically, they cannot be specific to the model and trim as determined by the VIN. Conceptually, Ford knows the detailed configuration and could produce a fully customized owners manual based upon the items on the window sticker.

The reason there isn't a version customized to each trim level is very simple: cost

It looks like your PDF reader is showing only the hyperlinks instead of the lettered graphics that are supposed to be overlaid.

Totally agree, as a retired product manager I was responsible for product manuals and they were tested on real users in multiple languges. If I produced anything like the Maverick manual, I would be fired. My 2023 XLT manual looks like a DEI job by an inexperienced hire who never drove the truck..

That could be done very cheaply with an electronic document and simple metatagging, and it's clearly set up as an electronic document.
