...I have honed my 2 driving styles over the years. Either hanging way back in heavy traffic, or passing a Gary Oldman level of cars in light traffic until its nothing but open road ahead.
If you drive through Eastern Ark. on I-40 near I-55 at W. Memphis, you cannot escape the constant line of trucks. The amount of truck traffic is unbelievable.

That's why I paid the Stealership for the 7 year paint and windshield warranty, hoping at 6 years I can get the chips and scratches fixed.

That sucks, but I know how you feel. The week after I bought my 19 Fusion I caught two rocks to the windshield doing 70, one of them bounced off the hood leaving I big paint gouge on my hood. Really kills that whole new car buzz.

I''m very sorry for your loss. I've got less than 3K on my '24 Mav w/o yet any damage. Your story breaks my heart. Best wishes to you in your restoration efforts.

Yes, there is a law here in California. Problem is when the trucks hit a bump in the road...........all bets are off.
Yep. Got our first rock to the windshield on Saturday heading out to Corona for my daughters roller derby tournament. Not sure of it's a repair or a replace but we'll find out soon .

Lol they got you good.
"Ya pays ya money an takes ya chances"
The ceramic coating sure looks good for $850, plus it covers the windshield AND the interior. My buddy's F150 was going to be $1200 for just the after market paint ceramic application, you get what ya pay for.

Keep in mind, those extras are negotiable - as in, there is no set price. If you say "I'll get it for (insert amount here) but not a penny more", there is a solid chance they will do it. Dealers love to sell people those add on's because there is about a 10% chance that people will even use them. The ceramic coating is likely a very quick fix for them too. So $850 for maybe $40 worth of product (buying bulk for a shop), $40 worth in labor (probably an overestimate), you can do the math on where the rest goes. They likely would have sold it to you for half that. Just food for thought on future purchases like that from stealerships.

Ceramic coating does not prevent chips in the paint. Staying far away from dump trucks helps more.

You're definitely driving waay too close to the worn-out and leaking dumptruck in front of you. Just because nobody else is doing it makes a really poor reason not to follow the 3 second rule. At 60mph that's about 280ft. Let some other dumbass get peppered or his windshield broken.

I was as far away as I could get - number one versus number four lane. They moved in front of me. California freeway traffic is crazy. I avoid tailgating anyone . . . especially dump trucks.

Thanks for the kind replies. Pepper is forever damaged. The only good thing about this is that I don’t have to worry about the first chip or ding anymore.
