Tell me about it. I was greeted to this after work last weekend. We had a freak thunderstorm roll through and someone must've panicked to get back in their car, swung their door open too wide and put a noticeably sized dent in my driver's front door. It's worth noting that I park far away from customers so they chose to park right on top of me. Now I have to pay out of pocket for someone else's negligence. Like someone mentioned already, it's the society we live in nowadays unfortunately.

When able, park a fair distance from your retail door, and on a hill (the high part). These perps are too lazy to walk any distance and a rollaway cart will roll downhill, away from you truck.
Be careful, everyone seems to be armed.

I've often said that we shouldn't have autonomous cars until we have push button return shopping carts. Empty your stuff, push the button, and the cart magically returns to the cart rack.

I feel you on that!, but lookie what I got (on day 3 of ownership). Thank You "landscaping truck & Trailer" Way out in a HD parking lot, Nice lady told me that a truck scraped it and did not stop.

Update: I love all the terms: Ignorant, A-holes, etc......I like to use the medical term: "CRANIAL RECTITUS" for people like that.

Bad case of Cranio-Rectal Inversion, I think.

I'll also make a counter point here I've made in other threads. Considering the nature of their use, our car culture of wanting pristine metal exteriors shined up like jewelry is counter intuitive.
- Hurdling down the road at high speed
- Parking lots
- Parking garages, even worse at cramming you in too close. Even normal people have to do limbo to get out carefully
- Being outdoors a lot, hail, falling debris

It's way more practical and realistic to expect some wear and tear, dings etc. Trying to maintain the perfect exterior is futile and to a degree, dare I say vane. Think about other things in harsh use environments like shoes. More are now built to cover up scuffs etc than in the past. Outside of few dress circumstances most people realize shining shoes isn't productive considering their use.

Saturn was on to something, but people associate plastic with "cheap" and we seem to find a way to turn things into status symbols.
Yes, but. It still does not excuse the rudeness of some parking lot drivers/parkers. No vehicle will go to the scrapyard with impeccable paint or sheet metal, a given. But to cause damage to others' property for no reason except indifference or laziness indicates a lack of being raised to respect others.
IOW, tuff beans and BTW, I don't care. Those should expect to receive the same in their lifetime. Hopefully as much as they dish out to others. But I refuse to play the game, or try, by 'parking out' as much as possible. My wife is not so fastidious, and the dents accumulate due to others rudeness.
Life's too short.

Went to Harbor Freight today and when I came out I saw this. It's a plastic cart so no damage but really, the cart return was right behind me and over a couple of spaces, they were to lazy so just left the cart there.

Silly earthling. We've replaced 98.9% of humans on your planet but those few humans left still believe they're dealing with "people".

I give up! no mater how far away I park, and I mean far away, some asshole parks next to me even if theres 20 other spots available. I just dont understand it, can someone tell me why?
L
Same. The bottle shed in back had a holeii was you could reach through and grab some to return. One 10 cent bottle was good for 2 candy bars!
Nice to know I was not alone in doing this.

I haven't seen that at ShopRite. The only place I've noticed that practice is Aldi
Never been at at an Aldi heard they did it.
Shoprite is owned by a few different companies. There are differences. When. I was a kid we had one 3 blocks away in a residential area. My grandma would take her cart there all the time.

Agreed that this is not instead of common decency but in addition to.

I had a similar dent in mine and I used a small suction cup to pop it out.

I've seen the wind push carts around the lot, especially the lighter Plastic-sided carts.
