Tell you what. Our local Shop Rites a grocery chain have the chains that you need to put a quater in to get the cart. You get the quater back when it's returned. It works! I have never seen a cart that was not returned.

That's the same in Europe. But kids hang around the store parking lot waiting for someone that is too busy to return their cart. They swoop in and return the cart and collect the coin.

Shows you how old I am. When I was a kid we would return the bottles for the deposit. One place would store the bottles outside. We would grab them and return them again. Pretty sure the owner knew but let us do it anyway.

Went to Harbor Freight today and when I came out I saw this. It's a plastic cart so no damage but really, the cart return was right behind me and over a couple of spaces, they were to lazy so just left the cart there.

That irritates me as well. I see it all the time at Walmart. I was in a walker because of knee surgery and I still put my cart in cart rack

I call it lazy. The depot store is worse. I never park near a cart corral.

I'm 83, the old lady is 81, and we park out and walk to minimize the chances of that happening. But while on the subject of a'holes, when we hit the diner for the senior specials it's always amusing to see people a lot younger than us park in a handicapped space, put up the placard, and then practically run to the entrance to get their place in line.

When our daughter was in early teens she said that because I parked so far away that we should leave the car at home and walk.
Aldi's does the quarter thing here in Pittsburgh. Never see a cart in the parking lot.

I’m sixty years old and have saved, struggled to buy every vehicle I’ve owned. I treat a strangers vehicle with the same respect I would treat my own because I assume they have invested as much sweat as me.

Maybe I’m old school but I think today’s society is all about credit /loans. No pride of ownership.

Anyway, that’s my diatribe on the matter.
