Painted Tow Hooks

I painted my tow hooks this weekend.
Went from black to Ford Blue from duplicolor.
There is a clear coat on the black you have to scuff. I used 600 grit, used grease and wax remover, painted 3 coats of Ford Blue and 3 coats of Diamond satin clear from Eastwood.
I like them a lot better. Would be easier to see at night if need be.

Yeah there was no way I was going to take front bumper cover off and go through the wheel well just to remove the hooks.
Buy the stickiest painters tape there is.
I had a hard time getting mine to stick with all the coatings I put on bumper cover and black plastic. But I got it.

They definitely look better painted (wish they were from factory like tremor coming out). I had mine done by the body shop repairing my deer accident

Very nice! If I ever get my Alto Blue Mav XLT, I'm going to continue the orange theme, with orange tailgate letters and painted tow hooks.

So..... since the tow hooks only take up park of the cubby space (like 2/3) and there are no fog lights, why is the "cubby" cut-out that size and shape?

While many people have stated it's not meant to be a punch-out.... it sure looks like it is.

I want after market fog lights but I don't know what shape or size. I "assume" fog lights will "eventually" be an option next to the two hooks?

My concern with paint and masking is the longevity. I live in Upstate NY and sand and salt on the roads will quickly wear paint that is....done by me.

Just posted this on another tow hook thread..... a cheap DIY option I used is electrical tape. Easy to redo if damaged, or you change your mind.

I'm looking for the same foglight setup - preserving the tow hooks. Bonus would be switchable from white to yellow.

As a fellow UPSTATE NY resident, I think I'll have mine stripped and re-powder coated if and when I find acceptable fog lights that let me keep the hooks.
One of the guys I work with does powder coating on a small scale and you should see his Subaru...

I did mine also to continue the factory theme. Did my brake calipers ,right tow hook and orange focus RS eco badging. I actually did this in June 22 copying the mach 1 appearance package with the fighter jet Grey. I was going for the ST look.
