Bird shit is the enemy, I would see if your insurance would cover it. I've had that happen twice on my firebird which was just painted last year and I am not happy about it

Almost looks like brake fluid or something similar was spilled there. Has it been in the shop for anything? Possible it could have happened in your garage? Have you tried rubbing it out?

It doesn't appear to be a factory defect, but rather some surface contamination. Not sure what kind of birds you have in GA, but don't send them this way..... 😱

I took it in to a dealership for an oil change and to look at the hybrid engine noise. Never seen a bird poop do that. It’s hardened and wrinkled so I don’t think I can rub it out.

Looks almost like baked on tree sap. Do you park under/near a pine tree or anything? If you do take you a little bit of hand sanitizer (the gel kind) and just massage it into it and it'll break right up. Wipe off with a soft cloth and you'll be good to go.

Smoking gun alert! I'll assume you noticed it after you got it back from the service? Time for a conversation with the service manager....

Could be tree sap, but I've never seen that kind of reaction....it usually just sits on top of the clear, and hardens. Can be easily removed with a paint safe solvent, like Kleen-easy.

Sure looks like the work of brake fluid to me.....

So I don't think it is tree sap or bird poop. I do park under a tree at work, but not a pine or other sappy tree and if it was sap, I would expect it do be an issue in more places on the vehicle and an issue for other people at the office with Fords. Simliar with bird poop. If it were due to bird poop, I'd expect it to be all over the truck and other people also having issues.

After being out in the sun the paint could actually move in the center of the troubled spot like maybe a semigloss house paint would when heated. Just slightly malleable. It is really odd. I went by the dealership, they sent me to the collision center and we tooks some photos to send off for a warranty claim. The service was done back at the end of June. I just noticed for the first time today.

If the paint is soft and moves, then some solvent (or brake fluid) was spilled on it almost guaranteed.

The hood is aluminum. Aluminum can blister paint if there is even the slightest iron dust on the surface when painted. I had a 2019 Wrangler which is mostly all aluminum. They, like other aluminum vehicles, would have bubbling/blistering of paint. Problem in repairing it was it required a certified aluminum paint shop with separate booth to avoid contamination. Jeep used the same warranty spec of it had to rust through not surface to cover it.

Take it to a good paint shop to get an opinion of the cause.

I don't know. It hardened back up when it cooled off. Maybe?

Left center of the hood, where the groove are. Ford has said they aren't going to cover this under warranty that it is likely from a harsh chemical and not a defect. So SOL.

That IS a paint defect. Some kind of contamination on the metal surface prior to painting. Maybe a drop of oil from machinery. Hard to tell. If it is hard and doesn't easily come loose or off, that pretty much confirms it started before paint was applied.
Ford will/should pay for a hood repaint. A good shop can fix that so you cannot tell it was ever repainted. I would hate to do that, but if mine I would have it repainted. Too much chance of it coming off and really looking bad.

if it hadn't been seen for 8 months, chances are it's something that fell on the paint.....not enough information to make a definitive diagnosis.....is it soft?....can you chip if off with a fingernail?....etc.....needs to go to a good body shop for further analysis....
