I'll have my 22 Maverick for 2 years at the end of July. I've noticed 2 spots of paint chipping on the edge of my hood that faces the windshield. I've never experienced paint chipping in this area on any other vehicle I've ever owned. I'm not even sure how it would get chipped in these areas. One is just left of center of the driver's seat, the other is just right off venter of the center of the hood. Anyone else have this issue? Would it be a warranty issue?

It's probably from lifting your wiper blades. Then using the motor turning them on to get the blades to come down. That's the only thing I can think of that would cause that. Actually there are a few threads on the subject of raising wiper blades in northern climates before snow, freezing rain etc .. that has done exactly what your pictures in your post shows.

Yes I have the same problem on my 2023 lariat. Nothing hitting or rubbing the hood but it has a 2 inch chip on the hood edge on drivers side

Third vote for you lifting your wipers away from the windshield and then scraping the paint off your hood with them.

Bad design to so easily damage paint. It’s a thing to lift blades in snow country.

Yep, prior owners did the damage. Get some touch up.

Agree with everyone else, known issue. A lot of cars have this interference issue with lifted blades, but so common to lift for ice and snow that I wish Midwest based car companies would not allow this to happen.

Good news is hood is Aluminum so won't rust but I would put on touchup paint just to keep the rest of the paint protected as not good to leave as is. I would mask almost to the edge and put on several light coats. If you are daring you can try to sand with 800-1500 grit paper to feather in the masked edges and use some rubbing compound to finish it off and will likely look much better but only as good as the color match of the touchup paint. Be warned sanding on edges is not easy and most people cut through the paint as easy to apply too much pressure. I have done similar repairs with success, door edge of new car opened against steel post in garage, hit just right and took off the paint.

I had a similar issue on my original 22 Lariat. Was addressed using the warranty with no issues

The biggest problem is that even if you only partially lift the wipers (like to squeegee the windshield) they make contact with the hood.

At least the hood is aluminum so it won't rust out!
