the interior of my Mav Saturday. Afterwards I pulled into the garage until Monday. I decided to check the oil after a recent oil change. I had taken it to a neighborhood shop that I have been a customer of for 9 years.
As you can see the oil reads a bit above the maximun level. Every other time I've checked the oil, fresh oil change or not, it has been at the top of the cross hatched, nominal, area of the dipstick.
Is this concerning or should I forget about it and be happy for another 9725 miles?
Thanks for your thoughts. Maybe I'll go back to changing my oil...what ramps work under the Maverick?
eave the truck sit a couple of hours. Pull the dipstick and wipe it off. reinsert and let it sit for about 20 seconds. Pull the dipstick again but keep it pointing to the ground to read it. Oil in the dipstick tube can foul a reading as well as turning the it.

I have noticed that sometimes I need to flip the dipstick over and read both sides, because most times it looks slightly different. I don't understand why exactly this is the case.

But if I keep re-reading it enough times, rotating the dipstick 180 degrees so that both sides are sampled, then I reach a conclusion. I tend to use the lowest level that I see on either side. Of course, only one side has the cross-hatching, but it's not hard to figure out.

I check oil after truck has been sitting after at least an hour OR usually in morning before starting (like the 12 volt the oil needs to settle🤗).

Your crankshaft should not make contact with the oil level in your oil pan. If it does - it could froth the oil which is not good.
Over filling, can cause the oil pump ‘froth’
Then cavitation of the oil pump can occur effectively dropping oil pressure to near zero.
Very very bad.

Go with a small tube down the dip stick hole, Suck some out.

Then find a new place to get your oil changed.

Another reason no one but Ford touches my Tremor. I’ve never had them overfill and I check it each time before I leave the dealers lot.

Funny I'm seeing this now given I just changed my oil (2024 XLT EcoBoost) yesterday. Mine always reads at the "C" hole...or even slightly higher...after an oil change.

Coincidentally to this post, I just changed my oil yesterday (2024 XLT EcoBoost). From the factory break-in oil to every oil change since (Yesterday was the third), the oil level (5-1/2 quarts with a new filter) has read at the "C" hole....or even slightly above it. If yours is the same, it's nothing to worry about. If it was reading at or above that "Z" indent on the dipstick, I'd take some out, but where yours is reading, I wouldn't worry about it....

It's always been my understanding that it's an industry mandate that engines be engineered to operate normal if either under-filled OR over-filled by a quart....

I took razor knife and cut about 1 to 2 inch rectangle out of the under shield on my hybrid, (easy cut because its firm fabric material) where the oil plug is.

This allowed me to crawl under and remove the oil plug with ease without removing the whole shield.

If you do that you could just slightly start removing the oil plug until maybe an ounce of oil comes out and then go check the oil stick. And then if you just a bit more then do it again. Or just leave it alone knowing the oil level as other have described as no big deal.

BTW--I do take out about 8 torx screws on the front part of the shield cover below when doing my oil and filter change.

I then just bend the shield backwards toward the rear tires until the oil filter is exposed and put a gallon jug filled with water on the ground and rest it up against the shield to hold it back while removing the oil filter.

Did 3 changes so far and cover is still durable after bending it backwards.

They overfilled my first Mav 22 FX4, brought it back next day and they removed 1/2 QT at dealer, my 2nd Mav a 25 Lariat hybrid I made them write on repair order specs, I always check level before leaving lot now Infront of everyone after letting it sit for a while.
My new Lobo #3 only has 1k and going to change soon to get the break-in oil out, I will be checking before leaving the lot and have them write on repair order, they don't use top techs for oil changes, their a step over Jiffy lube, am 75 now not getting under any truck any more so am at someone's mercy, but when you have them remove oil they remember you and the donuts I always bring helps. My last trip to dealer I heard the service adviser say to dispatcher the donut guy is here, I know they're going to be very careful with my truck, I always wait so truck isn't sitting around in over loaded lot.
