Thank you!Harbor freight has some good ramps. I have a pair and they work great for oil changes.
eave the truck sit a couple of hours. Pull the dipstick and wipe it off. reinsert and let it sit for about 20 seconds. Pull the dipstick again but keep it pointing to the ground to read it. Oil in the dipstick tube can foul a reading as well as turning the it.I washed the exterior and cleaned
the interior of my Mav Saturday. Afterwards I pulled into the garage until Monday. I decided to check the oil after a recent oil change. I had taken it to a neighborhood shop that I have been a customer of for 9 years.![]()
As you can see the oil reads a bit above the maximun level. Every other time I've checked the oil, fresh oil change or not, it has been at the top of the cross hatched, nominal, area of the dipstick.
Is this concerning or should I forget about it and be happy for another 9725 miles?
Thanks for your thoughts. Maybe I'll go back to changing my oil...what ramps work under the Maverick?
I check oil after truck has been sitting after at least an hour OR usually in morning before starting (like the 12 volt the oil needs to settleI have noticed that sometimes I need to flip the dipstick over and read both sides, because most times it looks slightly different. I don't understand why exactly this is the case.
But if I keep re-reading it enough times, rotating the dipstick 180 degrees so that both sides are sampled, then I reach a conclusion. I tend to use the lowest level that I see on either side. Of course, only one side has the cross-hatching, but it's not hard to figure out.
Over filling, can cause the oil pump ‘froth’Your crankshaft should not make contact with the oil level in your oil pan. If it does - it could froth the oil which is not good.
Funny I'm seeing this now given I just changed my oil (2024 XLT EcoBoost) yesterday. Mine always reads at the "C" hole...or even slightly higher...after an oil change.I washed the exterior and cleaned

Coincidentally to this post, I just changed my oil yesterday (2024 XLT EcoBoost). From the factory break-in oil to every oil change since (Yesterday was the third), the oil level (5-1/2 quarts with a new filter) has read at the "C" hole....or even slightly above it. If yours is the same, it's nothing to worry about. If it was reading at or above that "Z" indent on the dipstick, I'd take some out, but where yours is reading, I wouldn't worry about it....I washed the exterior and cleaned

It's always been my understanding that it's an industry mandate that engines be engineered to operate normal if either under-filled OR over-filled by a quart....I washed the exterior and cleaned
