Ordered a single engine air filter from Walmart, received an entire case of them

3x: Mobile 1 Hybrid 0W-20, 5 Quart, $25.97 ea
2x: Mobile 1 Extended Performance M1-102A Oil Filter, $11.97 ea

That was for two oil changes for my Hybrid Maverick. One immediately and one in 12 months.

Well Walmart delivered the two filters but only two of the three Mobile 1 5 Qt.

I contacted them and asked if they could deliver the missing one.

They said that no they were not set up to do that.

I asked if I could just pick up the missing one at a Walmart store.

Again the answer was no.

Their solution was to credit me for the missing one and some amount of credit for their mistake and to reorder again for the missing one.

I accepted and their credit was for two of the Mobile 1 5 Qt or $51.94.

I reordered the one missing for $25.97 so in effect because of Walmart's incompetence I got one of the Mobile 1 5 Qt for free.

Morality brigade is strong today. The reality is that there is a good chance they will tell you to keep them. Had similar happened before with both Walmart and Amazon and was told to keep the stuff as there is a cost to return shipping and return processing that eats up any of those items costs with a 50/50 chance they would go back in stock or sent to a bulk returns auction.

Karma also seems to even out over time.

Sometime you get something for free and the next you are shorted something.

Sometimes you are overcharged (and miss it) and then you find $20 stuck in a bush.

I don't disagree with you, but the real party foul here is that this thread even exists... If you are cheated, don't get too down in the dumps about it. If you get away with something, don't brag about it.

If it was your business:
1. Would you want to know if an employee made a huge mistake?
2. Would you want the customer to do the right thing and return the extras?
3. Would you thank the customer by offering an one time discount for their honesty? (This happened to me)

And the justification that keeping the extra, equals the shortages you didn't receive? You know you bitch to sellers
when you're short until you get your product or money back!

Set for six years.
Save one dirty filter and put it in one of the new filter boxes. Empty the other five boxes and keep the new filters. Next show them that one AND the five empty boxes, tell them you ordered only one and start raising hell.

They make bazillions of dollars but won’t pay enough to get smart employees.

Betcha a cheap six pack of beer they’ll credit you for five filters.
