Maybe I misread your post. I though you were saying there was something fishy about the OP's story. If you were just saying there is something fishy about the dealer ... well ... no disagreement here.
IF anyone is reading this and you never got a copy of the signed ordered sheet, contact your dealer and ask for a copy, this will protect you if things don't get right.
Maybe, maybe not.

"Order sheet" can mean different things. And often that "sheet" (whatever it is) is signed only by the buyer, not the seller. It may help you if the dealer orders the wrong thing -- you can show what you really asked for -- but it may not help you if the dealer tacks on ADM.

I think the better advice is to try to get a fully executed Buyer's Order from the dealer. That at least has all the trappings of a valid contract. (At least all the ones I have seen do.) And if the dealer won't do it, you know you have a possible problem.

Repeat after me:

The ONLY protection from surprise charges at time of delivery is to have a "Buyer's Order" listing all costs and showing the "Out-the-Door" Total Price signed and dated by both the Buyer and the General/Sales Manager of the Dealership.

This warning has been posted many times here on this thread and Tim @fordvideoguy has videos where he also states that having a "Buyer's Order" protects against surprise charges at time of delivery.

I really don't understand why this warning isn't a sticky under the "Ordering" thread.

Well you would be happy to learn that Ford has acknowledged that many of the Lightening orders will eventually be 2023 / 2024.
It brings me no great joy. I also have a Lightning Pro ordered as of this afternoon.

I got a copy of the Order Sheet only (it's actually called Order Summary) approved and signed only by me. This was generated while I sat with dealer rep as he entered my order into WBDO from my Build and Price sheet I brought with me. We went line by line and checked all totals including Total price for accuracy. He handed me a print out and circled my Order Code and told me to reference that anytime inquiring about my order. Then we moved over to my sales rep, who copied it and handed me the copy and put original in my folder. I asked if anyone from dealer signs them and was told no. They also copied my DL at same time and put in my folder. Then he went to sales manager/ finance guy and shortly after walked my folder over to their admin data entry person. Came back and said "we're done, now we wait until she enters it and good to go." I said OK, the showroom is dead, can you ask her to enter now if not too busy? He said yep and bounced over and came back. Couple minutes later I had my congratulations email from Ford saying they received my order and 1st bubble filled. Says they will notify me each step of the way as my order moves through system.

Then I thought about asking for "buyer's order" that some on here reference- and was told no, not needed, my order with pricing is accepted in the system. Then I asked for OTD price sheet, and finance guy drew 1 up, showing exactly pricing we agreed to (MSRP + $299.00 handling and delivery, DOC fee), my rebate, tax and final balance due. I noted it wasn't signed by them and again told, don't worry nothing will change, we always sell @ MSRP (their website shows this for each inventory vehicle- even Broncos & B/Sport), I have price protection + any new incentives or rebates that might show up by delivery date will also be stacked on my rebate. Then a handshake  And the wait began.

I bought from this place and sales rep before so not worried about any sketchy stuff at contract time. It's a small town and only Ford dealer and you never hear a bad word about them. Not exactly the steps some others here described but I believe everything will go through properly and I will receive my truck and pay agreed pricing without a problem... (y)

It sounds like you did everything you possibly could and most likely everything will go well.

It always concerns me when someone won't sign the paperwork, but maybe that's just me.

yep. in a small town your reputation is golden. Also helps that you see a lot of the citizenry around town often and if they screw you over they got nowhere to hide!

I'm talking about the DORA you sign. That has prices listed on which YOU agreed to pay.

My wife and I ordered a Maverick XL Hybrid with a towing package on 8/1/2021. We were pretty excited. We had bought new vehicles in the past, but had never ordered one. I had read about the protocol to order and after a few days, I contacted the salesman. I asked him about it. He assured me it was done correctly. After a couple of weeks, I stopped in again and asked if they had a confirmation number. The salesman said they had and referred me to his boss. The manager again assured me it had been ordered would keep In touch. I stopped in October and was informed by the manager he had good news. The truck was scheduled to be build the week of November 22. The first week in December, the salesman called and said our truck was in. Fantastic. We went to the dealership and waited while the truck was being cleaned. They brought it around and it wasn't our truck. It was an XLT with the Echo boost. They apologized. On January 4th I stopped in the dealership. The salesman was out, so I left a message inquiring if there had been any news. An hour later, the salesman called and said Ford cancelled the order without explanation. He said I could get a truck without the Hybrid option or order the Hybrid in when the 2023 season starts. I was extremely disappointed. I never did get a conformation or any correspondence directly from Ford.
Tow package is not available with the hybrid. I bet the salesperson just assumed you wanted the 2.0L package, which is why that is what showed up.

given that every situation is unique here; this is a no-lose situation for me specifically. I have history with this dealer and sales rep for successful no BS purchase. I don't NEED a Maverick at this particular time and currently own 2 other low mileage vehicles that meet all my needs and will last beyond the point where I'm able to drive safely. I just see multiple advantages of adding a modern, smaller vehicle that combines the best of the other 2 in 1 versatile (more) fuel efficient package.

if the truck arrives and there's any changes from what I expected I walk. The more time that goes by and these are common on the roads and orders are filled faster and a comparable competitor compact truck emerges, I'm sure the ADM scams and shortages will be gone and I'll have more choices to pick from. I actually only pulled the trigger ordering when I did because of the $750.00 rebate they gave me and the long delivery times works to my advantage.

While this is great information and has been reiterated in multiple threads, it's not relevant here. It's amazing how these threads venture off topic and clutter up the discussion devoted to what happened to the OP.

I can't believe I read this entire thread.

A few things jump out at me.

1. you stated multiple times you "read the process on how to order your truck".. Where did you read this?
2. In this posting you stated that had read fords protocol when ordering, again where did you read this?
3. Do you have a copy of the order sheet that you signed? If not why?

Some things don't add up about this.

You are overthinking. I learned about the Truck probably the same way you did. It was all over the internet. That's how I found this club. #1 This topic had been repeatedly discussed on this forum.
#2 see above
#3 I never got ANY correspondence directly from Ford. I got a copy of the build (order sheet) that was filled out at the dealership from Fords website and a receipt for $500.

Of course it is relevant here. Take a look at all the posts here where buyers hope their dealers will honor MSRP and won't do ADM and high cost dealer adds on delivery.

If the @Administrator would just make a sticky in the Order section in how to protect yourself by doing a "Buyer's Order" then I would agree but until that happens I will post again and again when I see Maverick buyer's hoping that their dealer won't screw them upon delivery.

Yeah, I see that and it looks like the dealer probably screwed up submitting your order to Ford, plain and simple.
