Greetings all. I have a sharp “clicking” in my driver’s door when I fully extend it when opening. No noise when it closes. I’ve tried silicone lube spray on the hinges to no avail. It only occurs during the hot months (May-September here in Texas). Any other ideas or suggestions? Thanks!

There was a problem with the welds inside the door that connect to the tension latch - as in, the welds break. I don't think there was any kind of a recall.
Perhaps the door swung open in a large gust of wind?

Thanks all for your replies. No, it happens constantly during the summer heat months. Been happening since I got the truck 2 years ago. Only when you open, not when you close.

Mine started doing the same thing this spring.

I should probably take it in to see if it would fall under the extended warranty I bought, but I'm not confident about it.

It's not the welds failing. The welds are holding. It is the metal on the door shell that is too thin and failing. Literally ripping around the welds.

All answers seek like they have had experience and I don't know about Ford doors but is the bolt on the frame of the Maverick tight? I know BMW had a recall on the bolts holding to the vehicle frame. You could see it moving tho, I didn't notice any movement in your video. Can't hurt to take a quick peek at that bolt tho 🤷‍♂️ sounded the same noise is the only reason I mentioned it.

It's the weld/sheet metal that has broken. It's not a loose bolt.

Let Ford deal with it.
No biggie.

I had said it was worth looking at, just a suggestion. I read all the replies. Sorry I didn't realize I had to keep my 2 cents to myself....and it's "loose" not "lose"

Thank you checking my grammar and spelling there. It’s nice to know there are intelligent folks on these boards willing to be pedantic enough to correct me.

You’re free to give your incorrect opinion but this is not a new issue with the Mav and it’s not a LOOSE bolt.

Spot welds failing. Rewelded mine but the metal is too thin I’m sure it is just a matter of time before these fail also. Was always careful opening and never had wind catch it. It’s just not heavy enough material for the stress over time.
