I just noticed your profile pic Waterick. Think we purchased our Mavericks at the same dealer over in Greenwood. lol
Had it 15 months now, one of the first '24 hybrids. Dealt with Shorty waited for initial XL order over a year, was then converted to '24 model that I then upgraded to a Lariat. I see they have been moving all Mavericks they get in fairly quickly now and most of them are stock inventory.

Changing the oil more often does NOT reduce the chance of wear or breakdown. It might give you piece of mind but it does not. If it did then you should do it everyday and the engine would never fail right? I know that is ridiculous but using change intervals from the 60s is also.
" The answer is conclusive: No, you don't, according to every auto manufacturer we've talked to. The main advocates of the 3,000-mile oil-change schedule are those who would profit by it: repair facilities, quick-lube chains and service departments at some new-car dealers. Recommended oil-change intervals actually vary greatly from one vehicle manufacturer to enough, so it is always best to familiarize yourself with your owner's manual to keep up with recommended maintenance. "
So you're saying I should follow page 456 of the manual and change my oil after 1 year exactly like I did?

" Your vehicle comes with the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor system, a message appears in the instrument cluster display at the proper oil change interval. This interval may be up to one year or 10,000 mi (16,000 km), hybrid vehicles could exceed 10,000 mi (16,000 km). "

Ok,so every 3000 miles to some people is way to soon.one problem though🤨ive been servicing my cars since early 60,s and oil gets changed every 3000 miles and thats not changing😎just want to know how to keep the light from coming back on!
Ahh we have one of those it's always been done that way type.
I understand as not a single thing in the automotive world has changed since the 60's.
I remember both my 69 Mustang and Frankenstein 60 Landcrusier having push button start, 360 camera's, oil life monitors, disk brakes on all 4 corners.

Yep, the initial one I was looking at was just stock inventory but they sold it out from under me to someone else the day I was supposed to sign the paperwork. Then they did a dealer transfer to get mine in. I was a little miffed about it but I ended up getting a better deal due to the employee pricing incentive so it all worked out. All in all the experience with them wasn't great but it wasn't the worst dealership experience I've ever had. (Quality Nissan wins that trophy)

EXACTLY !!!! But many have it in their heads there's "science", "advanced capabilities" BS to it.
There's not a lot of science behind it.

But it is NOT only miles or time based whichever comes first.

While towing with my hybrid, I got the "change oil now" (0% remaining) at 6,000 miles traveled in 3 months.

The time after that, without towing, 11,5xxx miles at 10 months.

I owned a Subaru that had a funky-shaped gas tank because it had a hump in the center for driveshaft clearance.
If you want a funky tank, try an old VW.

There is a huge pinch in the tank. By the driver's left foot was a knob, which would open the connection between them, letting you use the "Reserve" gallon.

Then in '64 they added a fuel gauge, and dropped the knob. Nonetheless, the pinch remained at least through the 70s, even on the larger tank in the Superbeetle. And the R rather than E on the fuel gauge lasted into the 80s, iirc.

The old wisdom was 3000 miles/6 months or maybe even 3 months.
And before that both oil & lube every 1,000!

I think the oil filter made the big difference.
:teehee:

I was shocked to find that a '27 Cadillac just plain didn't have one. The owner of the one I met had it fitted for a modern filter (which, iirc, cost him a point or two indulging, but it still one the best of show at the Grand National).

Big rig OTR truckers say the same.

In the big rigs they use some of the same oils, top off if it burns or leaks any, and can go 100,000 miles between drains.

They actually prefer it to burn or leak a little. Topping off brings in fresh additives.

In a past life I spent a lot of time at interstate truck stops.

Here is what my hybrid manual says:
" Your vehicle comes with the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor system, a message appears in the instrument cluster display at the proper oil change interval. This interval may be up to one year or 10,000 mi (16,000 km), hybrid vehicles could exceed 10,000 mi (16,000 km). "

Then, 2 paragraphs below, it says:
"If your instrument cluster display resets prematurely or becomes inoperative, you should perform the oil change interval at six months or 5,000 mi (8,000 km) from your last oil change. Never exceed one year or 10,000 mi (16,000 km) between oil change intervals."

This makes it obvious that the oil monitor is much more than a mileage/time monitor. Lets not forget the manufacturers are only responsible for the warranty for some specific length, usually not more than 60K miles.

But all the folks who know everything and insist that the manufacturers have our best interests in mind, well, I have an oilwell that you could buy cheap!

How many of you engineers recall the lifetime trannys' with no dipstick? And the trans shops were doing a booming business?

lol you mean like the Aisin 8F35 in every ecoboost Maverick?

no dipstick and service interval is officially listed as 150k, which only makes sense if the first service is full replacement.

curiously, the 'severe service' schedule for towing and police use is 30k change interval. hmmmm
