My first oil change was at 3,000 miles with a switch to Motorcraft Full Syn.
Now at 9,030 I’m at 51% on the oil life monitor.
So per the oil life monitor my Oil is ok out to 12,000 miles.

I drive briskly, strong and fast.
I guess Italian tune ups work.

51% oil life is like a 40 year guy. Too old for most Pro Sports - but certainly not too old by most standards. Although no longer a Spring Chicken & will soon be entering the Autumn of its life.

I think oil should be retired by 20% oil life remaining - the equivalent of a 65 year old guy. Let it get recycled into fuel to the power the plants that generate electricity for the EV’s.

Although I don’t trust anyone over 30 when it comes to the OLM equivalent (61%). Or 12 months whichever comes first.

At my last (2nd, first at around 2300) I had gone a little over 10,000 miles and the life was still at 30 something percent and I did quite a bit of towing last winter to go snowmobiling in northern ME (from MA). Both of my last 2 fords (Edge and Escape) I would get a message to change my oil at around 9500.

My experience with a FWD ecoboost is that regardkess if mileage, the monitor will indicate the need for a change at about 12 months. How long has the Motorcraft oil been installed?
My impression is that the miles or time will turn on the oil change indicator. I do not think it factors in the type of driving at all. My driving was always longer trips, with almost no 'grocery store' trips.

I'm also a bit suspicious of what goes into the oil change indicator. It very well could be a time and mileage tracker. I haven't put enough miles on my truck to have an opinion yet. It's definitely not analyzing the oil, but what else could it be tracking as a proxy for oil degradation? Temperature and RPMs? I'm sure it gives an ok "ballpark" estimate however it is done, but don't put a lot of weight on that number when deciding my oil change interval.

Cherokee- you just changed your oil initially way too early. You’re driving a machine built for the second decade of the 21st Century not the 1980s. Watch the oil life indicator when it gets under 20%- change at about 15%.

If FoMoCo had adopted a more inclusive engine oil life calculator, I would agree. But. They apparently have not. When I changed my oil at the direction of the monitor the second time, it was just at 12 months, but a lot lower miles. 90% or more of the driving was highway miles, with no trips of less than 1/2 hour. OK, maybe 2. The drained oil was a light brown, and had no odor of fuel. I was tempted to use it in my other vehicle as it looked and smelled that good.
If I were doing the 'monitoring', I would have kept that oil in the sump for a longer time period as I know how I drive and what usage conditions were appropriate. I do not live where there is frost on the ground more than a few times a year, no snow to think of, and a garaged vehicle 100% of the time. In short, the oil should have had significantly more life than the monitor claimed.
The tail of the second decade seems to indicate oil monitoring is not as in depth as it could be on the ecoboost Maverick. I for one will not drive the suggested mile range as I think it is stretching the capability of the available oil and in many cases will cause damage to the engine.
I have a Vulcan 3.0 that has been driven over 250,000 miles, and it has less 'gold coating'(assuming varnish) than many of the turbo boosted small engines being shown on YT videos that have followed makers directions and BTW, have failed, at significantly lower miles of use. I think(no proof but the pudding in my driveway) I have a slight handle on oil change invervals that are appropriate. Could be wrong, but I am changing ahead of the makers limits, more or less.
The monitor settings are not as accurate I I would have liked.

It seems to use fuel through the engine as a proxy for oil wear, plus time (at almost exactly one year to the day, mine went from 1% to 0%).

No reason to change at anything but 0% except for peace of mind.

That is because there is a secondary timer built into the OLM that adheres to the manuals requirement you change it annually at a minimum.

I always use a visual oil color inspection. When it starts to get slightly dark it is time. When that honey color fades. I’ll use miles travelled si ne last change as a backup, but never go as long as suggested mileage intervals in owners manual. Always full synthetic.

Mine shows 61% at 2,595 miles. This is the initial mileage. I plan on changing before 3,000 miles.

I know there's a million different opinions on oil change intervals, but I've always changed mine at 4k to 4500 mi with mobi-1 5w-30 full synthetic & a motorcraf oil filter. According to the OLM I'm usually at 60% when I change mine or more, but I never go by it.

Cost me less than $45 for oil and a filter & 25 minutes in my garage.

"If your instrument cluster display resets prematurely or becomes inoperative, you should perform the oil change interval at six months or 5,000 mi (8,000 km) from your last oil change. Never exceed one year or 10,000 mi (16,000 km) between oil change intervals." Right in the manual but many will argue it is not.
Agreed 👍
