It's not a contradiction in the owner's manual. It's a difference with hybrid, and obviously potential ICE usage.

It was being pointed out you gave recommendation that was a blanket statement that contradicted what you just noted from owners manual.
Unlike this recent comment above, that prior one didn't express it as opinion, but as a fact.

Considering someone could have heavy electrical use - they may get recommendation for over 10K but still under a year.
The ICE could still have 5K or less miles on it per that recommendation.

This was my quote. 100% from owners manual:

Your vehicle comes with the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor system, a message appears in the information display at the proper oil change interval. This interval may be up to one year or 10,000 mi (16,000 km), hybrid vehicles could exceed 10,000 mi (16,000 km).

...

Never exceed one year or 10,000 mi (16,000 km) between oil change intervals.

I copy and pasted from that from the owners manual. The bold part was me.... highlighting that time is also a factor.

It wasn't my recommendation. It is from the owner's manual. Maybe it would have been clearer if I took a screen shot rather than copy and paste the text.

Between 2 of us commenting - that was not the part being being commented on. The manual quoted - both of us agree on that.

Now let your eyes drift down your post to your actual last line.
"Never exceed one year or 10,000 mi (16,000 km) between oil change intervals."

That is what the comments were on.
That is where the contradiction is.
That is what you keep missing.

Ozark was emphazing the hybrid exception that your comment contradicted.
I was emphazing his comment was misunderstood (I think). Mine certainly was.

In your later post you did clarify it was your opinion that even hybrids should be 10K or less.

Sigh. I am well aware of which line you are referring to.

What you call my "comment" or my "recommendation" ("Never exceed one year or 10,000 mi (16,000 km) between oil change intervals.") is directly from the owners manual. There is a contradiction ... in the owner's manual.

I'm not missing anything.

1 oil change every year? I wouldn’t go more than 6 months. Oil is cheap insurance to make sure the engine is running at its best.

Too bad there isn't any Chemists /oil experts with factual analytical data on motor oils here. Too much BS now.

Ahhhhhh.
I just didn't see that as a contradiction, because the sentence continues with an exception and specifics, as I'm sure I've seen elsewhere in the manual.
I guess poorly written sentence, or you'd prefer two sentences, as they also do elsewhere in the manual when differences exist between 2.0 & 2.5 engines.
