Odometer reading when I receive my Mav

I asked my salesperson to pick me up at home and bring me to the dealership so I would not have to arrange for another driver to drive back my older car. It did two things, it allowed them to drive a Maverick, which they had not done before, allowed me to drive a Maverick as I had not done so before. We of course did spend 10-15 minutes going over it and looking at all the coolness of it. By the time I bought it there were 25 miles on it. The odometer disclosure said 4.8 miles, which is what is was delivered with to the dealership. Now, one may say, that it should have said 25 miles as that is how many miles were on it when you bought it. I, however, did not give one once of care because I had my ordered Maverick in time for Christmas and got it for a great price (A Plan) with no added fees.

Mine had 25 miles on it when it delivered.

Mine showed 27 miles but I had an official note from Ford on my windshield saying that my truck was randomly selected to go on a test drive.

Mine came with a tag like that. Had 91 miles when I bought it. I have no problem with this.

Mine had the same note and about the same miles...plus some dust from back road in Mexico I suppose. The mileage on the note was the same as on the ODO.

A special order vehicle under 30 miles but a dealer to dealer swap depends how far away the other dealer is. I’d say under 100 miles.

Mine had 16.1 miles on it...and I picked it up the day it arrived. There was a great thread/video(s) on this with @FORD BOSS ME who explains a lot they do when your vehicle is going through a PDI...which involves a dealer test drive to make sure all is good. If I find the link I'll update this.

What odometer reading should I expect to see when I go to pick up my custom-ordered Mav? If odometer showed 2 miles, I suppose that's not unreasonable. (e.g. driven to fill up the tank, etc.) What about 5 miles? 10 miles? Where would you draw the line?

Mine had five miles on it, I’ve heard of some with 23 at delivery

My Dealer didn't do anything, just washed and put gas in it. They are supposed to do preinspection delivery but most of the dealership don't do it. My Truck arrived friday night and I had a call Saturday morning to pick it. The tires were over inflated to 44psi as I took delivery and I had to bring them down to 35 at home. Funny thing is that I have now a Carfax entry dated 5 days later and saying they did preinspection delivery and did service and checked tires etc. LMO

Yes, that would likely be a dealer stock vehicle. I don't think they will have a problem selling a Dealer stock unit with 499 miles or less as new, like you point out. Someone has the option to take it or look at another option. But that would be beyond crazy to do with a custom retail order.

Even dealer stock shouldn't have but a few miles on it most everyone of them are sold before they reach the lot. You go to the lot to check one out and they have a SOLD sign on the dash and the doors are locked! As someone said in an earlier post they wanted to be the first one to Fart in their truck

After waiting 7, 8, 9, ? months for this truck i sure as heck wouldn't be worried about a few random miles on the odometer.

If I saw a new vehicle with over 50 miles I’d suspect my new car had been used as a demo ride. But Mercedes, Porsche, Acura, Landrover, etc would not normally release a new vehicle without at least a 15 to 30 test drive miles to look for wind noise, radio works, leaks, rattles, or a pretty extensive QC check list, but normally done by the Manufacturer. If I saw 2 to 3 miles on the odometer I’d expect the mfg wanted me to do the test QC ride and find and report any defects. No Thank you, that’s their job.

I think under 30 is reasonable. Is it clean and detailed to my satisfaction, is the train brake dust off of the finish, does it have a full tank of gas? We're good.

"Road testing" aka a food run. Did the cab smell of tamales and flautas? As long as it wasn't a joy ride...
