I think it was pretty solid and spot on.

Why would they be comparable? Maybe they're trolling.

I believe it was Ford marketing that made a comparison way back when the Maverick was first announced.

Anyway, I'm a C&D subscriber and read this article a few weeks ago and thought the comparison was fair.

Pretty well put. I’m still not buying a civic and I’ve been a Toyota and Honda owner for the last 20 yrs.

I think it summed it up pretty well. The Maverick can function as a truck and a car. I'm using it more as a car and occasionally as a truck. The Civic other than holding an incredible mount of cargo can't haul truck stuff. They are both great vehicles it depends on what you need. Interesting that the sound level in the Maverick is lower than the Civic.

Interesting to see the replies so far agree with the article. I do, too.
But I thought it was so far off the general mood of exuberance on the board that a lot of objections would follow.

In the months that I have owned my Maverick, I have hauled bikes, tree branches, rose canes, bags of cocoa powder, an ice maker, 8-foot 2X10 lumber, patio furniture, boxes of packing material, and more. None of these would have fit in a Honda Civic.

But I do love Honda. I sold a Honda Fit after buying the Maverick—and it was a terrific little car with an insane amount of capacity and utility for being so tiny. I used to have a Honda Element, which was possibly my favorite vehicle ever—almost like a truck in utility.

Highs: Efficient, inexpensive, can carry manure much more elegantly than the Civic.

THAT in and of itself would be reason to select the Maverick over the Civic!!
I have four tubs of chicken manure to move to deer food plots. Waiting on my Mav to arrive and have bed liner sprayed. That's when sh_t will happen!! :ROFLMAO: My wife won't let me use her Camry...........

Interesting comparison if only because the Mav is the only truck you can cross-shop with Civics, Corollas, and Elantras. I would agree with the results here - if you just needed “a car,” then a Civic or similar might be the best purchase. But if you really need or want the ability to throw something messy or dirty in the back or plan to actually move some pieces of furniture or appliances and such, then the Mav is a game changer in that regard. The Civic is a “nice” compact car. The Maverick is a cheap truck… although I’ll be honest, the Maverick’s interior is at least more interesting than a Civics.

"To put it in the simplest terms, the Civic is better at hauling people, and the Maverick is better at hauling stuff."

I think this is a good summary although I do not agree with the conclusion of the article. The Maverick is a better deal in this insane market; even possibly for those who just need a car. I would hardly consider the Maverick's interior (we have an XLT) luxurious, but we have no real issues with it - I'm (personally) not paying that premium for nothing more than softer interior materials and more supportive seats.

IMO, the negatives pointed out about the Maverick were odd; disappointed that a truck wasn't as nimble as a compact sedan on a windy road? The fact that a pickup out accelerates, has better braking performance, is more fuel efficient based upon EPA and possibly even more in the real world (we're averaging 47.5mpg in mixed driving), and has a cheaper base price than the compact sedan that is pretty much the industry standard is pretty incredible, and I'm a former civic owner and big fan.
