My daughter had problems with her Ford Edge which required her to obtain a rental vehicle from our local Ford Dealer. The vehicle that she rented was a new Ford Bronco Sport and today I had the responsibility to take it back to the dealer and turn it in. I know the same plant produces both the Maverick and the Bronco Sport but I was shocked at just how much difference there was in the way the two vehicles drove. The Bronco was a rougher ride, quite a bit more bumpy, and just not a smooth ride. My Maverick Hybrid was so much an improved ride that I was shocked at the difference. I mean there was not a slight difference but a huge difference and the result was in favor of the Maverick Hybrid.

I love my Hybrid Maverick and am so glad that I decided to stick it out and wait for it to be built. I'm not intending to down the Bronco but rather just say that the difference in the way they rode and drove was huge. Has anyone else driven a Bronco Sport and a Maverick? I have the FWD Hybrid and the Bronco Sport is an all-wheel drive vehicle and this may account for some of the differences. If the Hybrid does eventually come in an AWD or four-wheel drive I would hope that it would maintain its smooth drivability otherwise I would surely reconsider moving from FWD to AWD if the rougher ride came with the AWD vehicle.

The Bronco Sport has a 16" shorter wheelbase, 105" (compared to 121" for the Mav).

Otherwise, no. I've been in a BSport a few times, both regular and Badlands varieties. Unless the tires were overinflated to like 42psi, there should not have been a huge ride quality difference.

The 16" difference in wheelbase probably accounts for a lot of the difference.

There is no Maverick magic here. Long wheelbase usually equals a comfortable ride and a painfully large turning radius (unless you have rear wheel steering). It's kind of pick your poison. We had a 90s two-door RAV 4 we loved (crazy nimble), but it was insanely choppy on that 86" wheelbase. I still miss it just the same.

Not the same, but my wife has a 2012 jeep liberty and I hate driving that thing. So much rougher ride in that, between the shorter wheel base and stiffer suspension for off roading. I would imagine the bronco sport is a lot like that because of the shorter wheelbase.
