I have read the manual, and it sure looks like they claim there is a "mute" button somewhere on the left side of the steering wheel. Anyone confirm or deny? I used this feature/button a lot on my Kia when going thru drive-thrus or when I needed to yell at the kids clearly and with no music interfering with my anger. Haha.

From what I can gather, the closest thing would be "pausing" my music if using Android Auto/Apple Car Play/Bluetooth from my phone. But that would not help when I am listening to the radio.

2022 XL has no cruise control so it has the steering wheel button layout you found in the linked render. Closest thing you have is the power button which turns off the audio stream entirely, but not the touchscreen. The button next to the Tune knob turns off the display.

2023 XL has cruise control standard so it would presumably have the same layout as XLT, and Lariat without adaptive cruise control.

Thanks @nunucello @daddio211 @jsus .

It does seem to be the unfortunate lack of Cruise Control on the 2022 XL that means I don't have a mute button for audio. How dumb is that...... I have a 23 XL on order, so maybe that will solve my problem. Haha.

My lariat has a mute button on the steering wheel. I barely ever use it though (maybe out of habit since my old car didn't have one). Spinning the volume dial down takes half a second

Okay, I can confirm that my upgraded steering wheel buttons do indeed mute, but don't pause streaming audio.

Thanks. I have a feeling my 23 will look a lot like that. Which means I will have to re-learn the location of some of my buttons!

Is it that much of an inconvenience to use the volume dial?

Yes. If the goal is an instant mute and then return to previous volume setting, it is a significant inconvenience. The flick of a switch/button on the steering wheel (not reaching over to the dash screen) is way more efficient.

I'll be fine with the lack of functionality, but much like me trying to set a phantom parking brake with my foot, it will take me a while to not reach for the missing mute button. :)

I use the mute button all the time. I didn’t realize but another perk of adding cruise control via an escape hybrid leather steering wheel

Yep. Along with 90% of the other features of the truck that I would miss if they went away. Not going to be feel bad being honest in saying I wish I had the mute feature. Keep in mind I got an XL without cruise control. You gotta let me complain about something.....
